Re: JBJ from 80´s?

Short-leg baseplates were available in the latter part of the '80s. Looking at the details, this JBJ is *most likely* from the 1988-89 production range, though technically this pickup could have been ordered into the very early '90s without a logo and appeared the same, paper label and all. Still, I'd put my bet on 1988-89.

How would you describe the difference between this JB and a newer one?

I think he wanted to know how it SOUNDS different than current production JBs (in response to you saying..."sound of this Sh4 is great!! much better than today´s sh4").

Bingo.

Re: JBJ from 80´s?

The sound is brighter, clearer and more defined. The sound of the current pickups is ... you play a distorted chord and listen to a block of more opaque and inconcrete audio in this old JB. Each string is defined more individually and there are more harmonics.
it is my opinion
I do not speak english is difficult to me explain sound in spanish more difficult in english hahahah
