Looking for Real Life
who else could take a bassman 100 & make it push out about 170 watts? Honestly.

Do i have it back yet? No, but i'm kinda scared of it, which for me is a good thing, to flat out fear an amp.

gah, I'm gonna hafta buy a new cab

/end rant

Drew, are you in the business of selling out stadiums to play in?

Re: jeff seal = texas style super genius

That amp is going to ROCK YOUR WORLD. The JCM 800 Jeff modded for me is really, really awsome. I still have a few tweaks to make, the biggest being a recent white noise/hiss that I am afraid is my output tubes. I'm also going to change speakers/go with an extension cab in order to get a little more bottom end thump.

However, I now have an amp that can approximate Fender BF cleans (especially with the bright switch engaged) and all the roar and thunder of a JCM at full throttle. How much more can I ask for without spending THOUSANDS on a Bogner, Diesel or other boutique amp?

List for us the mods that he is doing to your Bassman, besides giving it annother full set of nads.

hah, no, just puttin on the most energetic & intoxicating live shows i know how to, which involves knocking a buncha sweaty teenagers & young adults on their asses.

and i'm not sure what all he did, he hasn't given me a full rundown, but i think he tweaked the negative feedback & bias supply, maybe the whole power section, but SOME part of the amp is set to blackface specs now, i just know it's not the front end cuz i told him to keep it as clean as possible

..."blushing"... umm...Drew, it wasn't quite as hard as what you might think.....i know you haven't seen the amp yet, but the transformers are actually larger than my Marshall 100w Drakes!....(there's some serious iron in your amp!)......however, while I can provide power, it's up to you to choose how to use it!

Basically, it's still the standard Fender "pre-circuit" found in most Fender's and coupled to a "very maxed" output section, with the beloved BF bias supply system to boot!...(best of all worlds!)

Re: jeff seal = texas style super genius

yeah, to you it may not seem hard, but, well, no one else on this board coulda done that...i don't think atleast.

one thing though, the 168 or 170 you told me, was that rated on the standard rating scale or what?

reason i ask is, well, like people here always say, tube amps are rated PRE breakup, and if measured maxed out, actually put out way more than they claim to, is this the same deal or is 170 the absolute, all knobs on 10, maximum?
