Johnny Ramone Tone

Re: Johnny Ramone Tone

I think The Ramones are very underrated today. They were spearheading the punk movement. Nobody sounded like them before. Johnny was a pioneer in downpicking rhythms. So many of modern bands rely on downpicking riffs like Iron Maiden, Metallica or Green Day.

Re: Johnny Ramone Tone

Just hit me: the guys pooh-poohing never saw the Ramones live. A lot of their recordings just sound okay, but live and in person the thunder just rolled...

Re: Johnny Ramone Tone

After the first album they got the sound dialed in for the studio with some oddities here and there

Johnny's guitar tone on Road to Ruin and Rocket to Russia was righteous. If you like a raw, flat out Marshall 1959 Mark II Super Lead
