That looks really cool with the Zebras.... Hope all goes to plan with the restoration.

Weird, I just saw this on Amazon (it's a Zebra WLH set with a wiring harness included) for $190. I've never really looked at Amazon for guitar stuff, is this gonna turn out to be fake Chinese stuff or something?
And I was SUPPOSED to be looking for tires for our camper... Guitar stuff is much more interesting. Hmm, I wonder if I can pull this off...
"Honey, the tires are a weird size and are gonna cost $200 extra." :nervous:

Oh and yeah, it's an Ebony neck.

Just in case I've never mentioned this before, I hate you.

And +1 for the zebras.

I think when you're done with this, you should send it to me to test it out for you, for about a decade or two.

Looks like a really awesome project! I like the looks of both the double creme and the zebras.

Re: Joined the "LP club" (NGD)

It's starting to look more like a guitar...

I found a (used) set of Whole Lotta's, in Nickel even.

They measured out at 8.03 and 8.67, if I did that right. THose are the exact pups I was really hoping to use in here, but was resigned to end up with cheap A2/A5 ones from Artec, so I was really happy to come across those, on the same day that I sold enough stuff to get them right away.
I'm trying to do this one up right (or ast least how I want to, not just cheap stuff I can afford) I wanted to put all Nickel stuff on here, instead of the Black hardware/pups it would have come with. When I got it, it was stripped-all the non-wooden parts it came with was the plastic output jack cover, (cracked) pup rings, and black strap buttons. Well, I got the aforementioned WLH's, a set of nickel straplocks, a nickel output jack plate (Whaddaya mean the "real" ones are plastic?!) a set of "witch hat" knobs, Tone Pros "Kluson" tuners (I seem to put Klusons on all my builds, and these feel much more solid (and smooth turning) than the fake K's you can get on the net (they cost 2X as much, though...)

Anyway I got 500K CTS pots, Orange drop caps, a Switchcraft 3-way and output. I'm in the middle of doing up 50's wiring

I'm filling in the old tuner screw holes on the back of the headstock

and trying to make the neck repair not so completely obvious

I found some Walnut stain that matches the color fairly well, and I've put about 6 coats of clear Lacquer on the crack and all the dents on there, but it's going so slow I'm about to just bust out the grain filler and do it that way.

I also got a set of Tone Pros bridge/tailpiece for this, the bridge fit fine but the tailpiece bushings were totally too small for the holes in the top.

I dug around and found out Gibson has used a couple different sizes of bushings, and TP offers what I already had, and 1/2". Well those just showed up, aaaaaand...
THey're too big for the holes in the top. Crap. I really don't want to have to drill these out, I'm having a hard enough time with that on my Hondo DC-LP (the holes are huge, and too close together for any "off the shelf" bridge/tail) The bridge itself I could push in by hand, it was hard but not impossible. The 1/2" ones are just too big. I don't want to crack the top, or bend the bushing. Uh, does anybody have a third set of bushing sizes handy?
Whatever, I'm psyched to finish this thing and get playing.
