Pretty much. My last two gigs were played with a Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster, mostly Joyo and Mooer pedals (I have a couple of MXR's snuck in there too) and a DC-5. Just because my guitar didn't cost $1000, or my pickups $200+ each, doesn't mean I have to be embarrassed by my gear. At my gig last Thursday another guitar player came up to me and was asking me what pickups were in my tele (they are the stock Duncan Designed ones), when I told him, and told him what overdrive I was using, he was blown away. He said he'd spent at least $1,200 on pickups and pedals in the last year and half and hadn't found his tone. (I wanted to tell him that tone is all in the fingers, but thought that might come off as rude.)



Absolutely I would.

Next time if someone asks about the Joyo, just tell them its a Freekish Blues prototype in works :27::wink::jester::friday: j/k

The pros are not talking about their pedals backstage. That's why there are pros and not gear heads.

Also, if they were talking, they would be talking about Boss and MXR and Ibanez, because that is what is on their touring boards.

10-15 years ago there was a big difference between cheap pedals and nice boutique pedals especially in the drive market (cheap Ibanez, Danelectro, DOD). Now I don't think so much, my most expensive pedal is a Wampler Pinnacle which is great but I enjoy all my BOSS, Mooer and Joyo pedals. Not saying they are end all, would enjoy a really good Tonebender and some more complicated Digital Delay and Reverb but when it gets up to some of the boutique prices I think it is better to go with a half rack system using Rack delays and reverbs and analog pedals for those kind of sounds (drive, fuzz, analog chorus, wah etc) much like alot of the pros such as The Edge does.

Back to topic I use a Joyo Ultimate Octave and after a little mod it sounds great for that bright harsh octave fuzz (very different to the octavia sound I think) and my Mooer Black Secret and Ensemble King sounds well more then the price tag. My modded DS-1 also is a sweet pedal that is built like a brick and cheap.

That pedal is terrific. Really liked it when I tested it.
The Sweet Baby is absolutely awesome, it makes my amp react like it does when it's cranked, but at low volumes.
By this I mean that it cleans up extremely well and gets dirty in a really nice way.

It's the perfect match for a dirty-ish amp. There's two pedals that I'm not taking away from my board, my tuner and the Sweet Baby.
It's crazy good for a hilarious price.
