JOYO Zombie....anybody?

Hi Guys
I'll write a post introducing myself, but I have a quick question. I have a large music room and guitar collection, with 4 half stacks, but several years ago...wow, call it 10 years ago, I wanted something mobile with big sound. I bought the best Celestion 12's available back then, built a custom box and had it rhino lined. I used an Orange Tiny Terror to drive it, and it was insane. I used it in some pretty large club venues and it had to be turned down. :Loved that tiny terror.
It worked great for 10 years or so, then the other night, a few buddies were over and we were jamming, just goofing off, but loud..and I toasted the Tiny Terror. It actually caught on fire. It was very Rock N Roll, lol. One of the guys video'ed it on his phone. We were right in the middle of The Four Horsemen...rather appropriate I thought. :)

Anyway, my question...I was going to buy the Orange Micro Terror- a buddy has one and I know it will do what I want...but I came across this JOYO Zombie Bantamp Guitar Amp head 20w Pre Amp Tube Hybrid « that I had never seen before.

Anyone have any experience with them? Anything firsthand would be very welcomed!

Thanks guys!

Re: JOYO Zombie....anybody?

Just picked one up last week and I'm still very happy with it. Bit of a one trick pony but if your trick is metal you will dig it. I picked mine up from Gear Tree via Amazon for 169.99 delivered. Definitely plenty of power through a 2 x 12 for jamming in a band setting, small club, etc. Great as a backup or a simple grab and go rig. The blue tooth is pretty cool too if you like to jam along with whatever. Nice tight fat bottom end. I'm not even using any pedals to drive the front end and it has plenty of usable gain. It sits in the mix just right. I was kind of hesitant because of the limited tone controls and my hate for the "wrong mids" but it sounds great. You can throw an eq in the loop also if you feel like it's needed. I couldn't be happier with it all things considered. I honestly wasn't expecting it to sound so good. Sorry I have no way to post any clips yet.

Re: JOYO Zombie....anybody?

Fantastic, just what I wanted to hear! The Orange Tiny Terror was much the same way- the micro dark has a knob called "shape" that is pretty interesting, I will miss playing with that, but the bluetooth was what was really pushing me towards the Joyo. I guess they are still so new that you can't find much online for them, as far as reviews go. I really appreciate the heads up!
I know what you mean about mids, I'm the same way, I'm really happy to hear that you dig the sound.

One of the only reviews I found said he strongly recommended a noise gate...any thoughts? Does it have a lot of noise? I don't mind a little bit, for that raw sound of early metal, but I don't want it to sound like somebody dropped a drum kit down the stairs in the back, you dig? B^)

Seriously, thanks again!

J

Re: JOYO Zombie....anybody?

No worries. I had seen a couple of noise gate comments myself but have not had any issues with mine. i have not had any issues with the gain up to 7-8 and that was more than enough gain. Usually I have it around 5-6 and it's chunkin' away good by then.
