Just a thought. (So far, only done in Photoshop.)

I was thinking about something strange and unusual to do with "Pinky".

How about a Strat-O-Tele? Too weird?

No thats a bit old hat. Been over done. haha

Ok i am thinking. a 7 string humbucker on an angle to the 6 strings and a juicy single coil in the neck.

Re: Just a thought. (So far, only done in Photoshop.)

IF I do this, I was thinking of a BG1400 for the bridge. But I'm not sure it makes sense to do a Custom Shop pup in a $25 flea-market guitar. (Of course, I can always take it out later.) Maybe a Tele HotRails instead.

Hey Sir Steen. Not sure I get that. If I did this, it would be with a Tele bridge.

Also, a Tele pickguard. My photoshop skills aren't that good.

Re: Just a thought. (So far, only done in Photoshop.)

What would you do with the large tremolo hole that goes through the body?

Hide my dope.

j/k. I don't do that.

I bet a small distortion pedal circuit board would fit in there real sweet.

Re: Just a thought. (So far, only done in Photoshop.)

Sonny Landreth has a Strat w/ a Tele bridge like that. His has all 3 pickups, though.

Re: Just a thought. (So far, only done in Photoshop.)

I'll look that up on YouTube. I'll probably go that same route. I was just practicing my graphics skills. ;)

Re: Just a thought. (So far, only done in Photoshop.)

Google "tele strat hybrid" and a ton of pics come up. A lot are tele bodies with strat layouts which look horrible IMO but the strat body with tele layout looks really cool I think. I just think I like the look of tele layouts on different shaped bodies, see pic

So, I guess you're not on the side of the F-spaced argument where you don't think it affects sound. :p

Not the trebliest pickup ever made. A Twangbanger would get almost the same sound, just slightly lower output and no noise-cancellation.

How about a juicy Filter'Tron style pickup?

Come on Artie, start getting some parts together I wanna see what this thing looks like when it's done. :)

Something that I have seen is a steel plate which mounts a Tele bridge pickup, but still uses a strat tremolo. Basically you get the tonal effect of the Tele bridge while retaining the tremolo. It also makes it easier to modify the guitar because all you need to do is get a H/S pickguard and cut out the bridge area to fit the plate. I would probably even keep the three pot setup and use a Tele 4-way switch and a vol/tone/qfilter or vol/tone/bass-cut like a G&L.

Wow! That's some pretty good inspiration. Thank you.

Funny you should say that. The Roadhouse Strat, that I got from Butch, has a Twangbanger in the bridge. Since I'm doing the active Classic Strat set, I'll have one available. ;)

I have "parts" together. See above comment.

Normally, this is where I would insert some sarcastic/tongue-in-cheek remark. But you've been waiting long enough, my friend. Your diagram comes before my project. :)
