Just bought my first Joyo... Classic Chorus

Re: Just bought my first Joyo... Classic Chorus

But perhaps I may be the exception rather than the rule.

I would say this is probably accurate. I wont issue a blanket statement saying everyone who spends big bucks on their pedals/amps/guitars sucks, but I think there are more people that fit that mold than a lot of people realize. I have a friend with a really nice PRS Goldtop single cut (pre-lawsuit) and several Dr Z amps, but he'd be the first person to tell you that his gear level is far beyond his skill level.

I've said it before, skill>gear everytime. A great player can impress people with his tone no matter what type of gear he is playing. Sure he might sound "better" with "nicer" stuff, but there is a point of diminishing returns in regards to gear.

That might be, Ace, because at the time there was no boutique pedal market. That's like saying none of my favorite cool jazz-era musicians used Marshalls.

I've been told by a few musicians that are extremely skilled that I have both great tone and killer chops. To quote the bassist I jammed with last week, "When did you (Agileguy) get so good at soloing?" I don't say this to stoke my ego or impress anyone, I just offer it as proof that skill and boutique pedals do not exist completely independently.

But perhaps I may be the exception rather than the rule.

Is there supposed to be some kind of smiley here?
