Just got my Explorer pro mahogany!

and all i can say is w00t!!!!:)

The built quality and finishing are much better than my sg, particularly the neck binding. The top looks great and the setup wasnt too bad out of the box, nice and low. I love the new white plush case they are using now.

Still not sure if im going to change pickups yet, i want to try the stock ones with my amp when i go home at xmas.

Should satisfy GAS for a while.

haha love those polar bear cases too, i have one that came with my 04 desert burst

i remember that gibson introduced those polar bear cases because the red ones kept bleeding into the binding..

either way, it's still gonna get dirty and the white will show more of that

no pg explorers look bad ass

I believe the body is 90% of the size of the regular explorer.
So, it should get 90% of the sound too! Right? :LOL:

Seriously, it does sound big to me.
A lot of bottom end to it.

The EXP Pros were first introduced around '02?
Early version have ebony boards with trap inays.
Then discontinued in '05.
Brought back in '07 as part of the GOTW campaign.
But, this time with rosewood board and dots.

Explorer Pro mahogany is week #13 of the GOTW (Gibson of the week).

i've always had a soft spot for exployers.. only one i have is a smashed up epihone Korina i saved from the garbage bin... it would be a great guitar if the low E string would not sound dead all the time... the other 5 strings ring out nicely and the low e sounds dead.. somethings up with that one

Oh god..They are horrible :earl: I was under the impression they were fairly talented.

Thats def the stock 500T in the bridge...check out those harmonic squeals That pup just rocks if you are into pinch harmonics...better than a JB. Super easy to get PH's.

Congrats Brit on the new pointy :bigthumb:

Thanks for your pics (again! haha) i cant get mine to load, so ill just say it looks the same but with a swirl of woodgrain around the bridge. Mine was 899 too:friday:

Large planks of Mahogany are cool. 59N/JBB would really sweeten that up nice!
