AAaaaaah.... even more satisfying than... well ..you know... :naughty:


I finally found back the tone I wanted... and the Edwards LP likes 'em sooooo much !! Sweet singin' sustain, balanced and very clear with lots of definition.

And that same ballsy/bold tone the bridge pickup has... very 3d ... lots of depth. More much lively and dynamic than the '59/JB (which is another thing).

yeah, I have 'em in my Hamer Artist ... haven't got to play 'em enough yet, but they sure rip when you crank 'em, yet are sweet when you back off

Really though, I gotta get me one of those. There's just been so much about them, and "clean" and "smooth" have become my favorite pup adjectives.

NICE!
The Seth bridge is my favorite humbucker for my LP. It has a lot of personality, like the PG, and it still has an "open" tone like a 59. I have had lots of pickups in my LP but the SL bridge just seems to have chemistry with it, for classic rock tones. The neck pickup is also very sweet and fat.

The clean sound, for both pickups, is very nice. Both pickups have a character that I really like. The bridge has a little bit of that twang that you get from the lower output PAF styles. The neck pickup is smooth and thick.
I am not crazy about the SL under high gain. It does not quite have the punch, to my ears.
For PAF style pickups, I think that PG and 59 are better suited for high gain.

I wonder if potting a Seth bridge would tighten it up, making it better for highgain? I can't say, since I only have a Seth neck. In my favorite Paul, I've got a C-5/Seth N, and it sounds great, but this week I'm installing a Custom Custom nickelcovered in that guitar's bridge position, just to see if I like it better with the bassier Seth neck. I know it'll be a warm and killer combination, since the Seth neck has great character and the CC has a thick singing dense tone. Who knows, maybe I'll be right back to the C-5, or maybe I'll love the CC. I'll know when it arrives from another member in the next day or so.

Stevo got it right, "personality" is the word here.

JammerMatt and co. : I effectively tried the pickup under high gain. My GH50L is considered high-gain (even if I dont use this "feature"), and the Seths still kept their "personality" even under high-gain, delivering some sweet soloing tones, while staying clear, with all the boldness/3d-depth qualities. It was very interesting....

The Seth N and CC (both nickel covered) are what I use in my Hamer Monoco. I love that combo in that semi-hollowbody guitar and it sound wonderful played loud or quiet.

Wasn't quite so crazy about that combo when I tried it in my solid body Hamer tho. I loved it when playing loud but didn't love the CC (or C5) in my solid body when playing quietly or at moderate volumes.

I'll be interested in your opinion...

Seth Lover and Antiquity are really great humbuckers . They're full of character and tones. They really mean PAF tone to me (as I don't own vintage PAF PU).
