Just tried a Gibson Les Paul Custom Classic...

Re: Just tried a Gibson Les Paul Custom Classic...

Is it just me or does that Gibson look an awful lot like an ESP?

Reminds me of an Edwards. ;)

Those LP CCs are sexy as all hell and I'm sure they sound great.

Like Ace said, you will regret it if you don't get it. My advice though? Buy used on eBay. Then it is both awesome, and an investment.

There's a reason your money is tied up 'til you're 21.

Re: Just tried a Gibson Les Paul Custom Classic...

I cant think of a better guitar than a LP or SG from gibson

here is Mr. practical's advice:

if ur going to college you should wait...I bought expensive stuff and ended up selling it for loans, and also cause I was afraid of it getting stolen. nothing like trying to hole up a diamond in the rough...

Go back on a couple more occasions to try it out. If you're serious about it bring your amp. There was a telecaster I loved at a store, but everytime I went back to play it I noticed more and more what I didn't like about it. Even though it did sound awesome through my amp.

Definittely sound advice too. I say if you already have money for school and this won't cut into that go for it, just remember school should come first and I know from experience.

Re: Just tried a Gibson Les Paul Custom Classic...

I must admit after spending a few days thinking about it, that I am not gonna buy it.

I loved its neck, but I like the 80s shredder necks alot more.

And also its simply too much money for me to spend :( I love the guitar but I think I will go for a King V or Randy Rhoads model instead. Can get a RR-5 in black for 1200bucks, and it has the perfect neck like my charvel has :)

Thanks for all the input

If you have already started thinking about other guitars, that one wasn't THE one. Don't post so quickly after a GAS attack...give it a day. You made it sound like you found your one true love!

Re: Just tried a Gibson Les Paul Custom Classic...

I still think that the best buy in the LP world is a 90 something LP Std with a 50's neck. You just have to sit and wait for a desperate seller to offer one for $1200, then throw the money in his hand. Then, install Duncans and get a pro setup.

Buying a new Gibson is like taking $1000 and throwing it in the fire on the same day you buy a minty used one.

I've bought most of my guitars new, but the few times I when bought used, I got real keepers. And they were broken in, and well set up being used too.

Not that all used guitars will be properly set up, but I generally think that buying used is a great way to get guitars. You have a better chance of getting a guitar with all the kinks worked out.

GJ, you are right about that. If anyone is interested, I'm debating on selling my 97 LP Standard, tobacco burst, plain top. I'd ship/paypal it for $1,300. If you'd like pics, please pm or e-mail. I'll probably put it up in the classifieds pretty soon. It's a tough decision..........
