Kahler 2300 vs 7300

Re: Kahler 2300 vs 7300

The 2300 or the Kahler PRO were the original '80s version. I'm not very sure but the 2300 of nowadays is like a "custom shop" model where you can select the material of various pieces.

The 7300 has fixed specs but you can customize it with aftermarket parts.

Dunno if there's any other difference.

Re: Kahler 2300 vs 7300

The 7300 series is the new Kahler hybrid which includes a set-screw locking mechanism to temporarily convert it to a fixed bridge. It is also only available with a brass cam and rollers whereas the 2300 is available with brass, steel, or aluminum. I'm not aware of any other differences, and most of the parts are interchangeable between the two. A very popular mod on 7300s is to replace the stock brass rollers with a different material.

Re: Kahler 2300 vs 7300

I have seen the difference between the tremolos. The Kahler 2300 "Pro" aren't worth it. I bought one thinking I would see an increase in quality because they are supposedly "hand made". Total bull****. The 2300 from my inspection was made to **** Q.C. standards. Now that's not to say that the Kahler is a bad tremolo BECAUSE IT IS DEFINITELY NOT!!!! It'll kick a Floyd Roses ass any day and believe me when I tell you that I have tried many versions of a Floyd Rose including an original German made one. All I'm saying here is that the Hybrid or "7300" is much more worth it and machined better. Go for a steel cam and teflon or steel rollers!

Re: Kahler 2300 vs 7300

i would seriously stay away from khalers. Ive had a 1984 bc rich warlock NJ, with a khaler and when ever i would dive bomb the strings would sometimes jump the roller saddles. such a pain in the ass.

Whoa, that sucks. With the price tag on those I'd expect a perfect bridge. So, what was wrong with your bridge?

I have an old 2300 PRO from 1986 and is still working flawlessly 26 years later. Although I've heard back then Kahler was a different company or something like that.

Have you tried the teflon rollers? I'm thinking of ordering a set when I order a pair of screws and a trem arm I'm missing but I don't know if they're worth the 30 bucks.

About Kahler vs. Floyd Rose, IMO they can't be compared. Two completely different beasts.

I've seen a couple of '80s NJ BC Rich's and all of them had the Kahler Flyer tremolo which was a budget model with a completely different saddle system. I've never had that problem with my Kahler PRO.

+1 Kahler Flyers are pieces of crap; they really can't be compared to the higher end models. I have a 2320 (Pro w/ brass cam & rollers) from 1986 that still works great. 26 years old, and all it's needed were new springs.
