Last I checked a Kahler was "eating" more tone than a Floyd or a vintage.

Since you like the neck that much, why not buy some body for the experiment? Buy body, put Kahler in, put your neck on. If you like the sound and feel, then mount a locking nut on your neck and have the body painted, or more the Kahler to your main body after you tried it.

Keep in mind I'm a guy who hates trems...

I'll take a Kahler, PRS, or Vintage strat bridge over a current strat bridge or a Floyd. The Floyd may be a simpler mousetrap, but I dont like the tone or the way they feel at all.

Grrrrr it beginning to piss me off actually!
It is an old steel trem, steel block, steel saddles!
And he want to stick a useless piece of bloody Kahler on it, powderdust metal crap!!!
It has the right tone....and he wants to "experiment" with it....sorry but buy some POS guitar with that POS bridge on it and get over it, or stick to it

Well it was my old guitar....I think I am slightly entitled to an opnion about it!
I am already regretting selling it by now!

Its just a plank of wood..and it's HIS now (I'm assuming). You never know...it was EXPERIMENTATION that made for alot of great new tones, great new players, and great new pieces of equipment. He may find what he's looking for. Or maybe he won't. And a lesson will be learned either way

look for a Fender Deluxe Locking Tremolo(formerly known as the Fender-Floyd trem), locking tuners and a LSR roller nut. the Deluxe locking trem fits directly on an American Standard 2-post trem which is the only major mod you'll need for your HWY-1 Strat.

I dont like those Fender thingies.. Tried a guitar with them awhile back, and I hated it

Guess I am going the kahler route

Put a roller nut & locking tuners on it. The Jeff Beck Strat is setup like that. I gave one a serious workout in the store (divebombed the crap out of it) and it stayed in tune as well as any of the MIA Soloists, and better than any of the licensed Floyds they had.

However, as it's been said, if you really want a Kahler, go with that, but don't buy into the "I need a locking trem" crap. If you set that Strat up properly, it would probably stay in tune fine as-is.
