Kamikaze Project PHASE ONE ... *Pics*

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
I got about 90% of the parts for my Kamikaze 4 makeover over the past couple of days, and was able to line up some of the parts, at least.

One thing I learned is that when you order a jack plate, it doesn't include the actual jack!! So, I still need that little bit of electronics, as well as a cover for the push/pull pot. It's a circular cover, and I accidently orderd the kidney shaped one. (Brain fart)

I was originally gonna get the Floyd from Easton Guitars, but they were out of chrome, so I ordered it from Warmoth. They just got a batch of Floyds in, so if you've been looking for an OFR, as they seem to be in short supply, now's the time to order one. The downside was the price; $182 stinking dollars including shipping.

Anyway, on to the pics. More to come ...

for give me...I don't do ESP's...is the pickup selector the push/pull pot?

It looks to be shaping up nicely, BTW!
Thanx!
That is correct; the push-pull is the pickup selector. It is the second simplest wiring I have, next to my M1, which is just 1 HB, 1 volume ...

So (not to keep sounding dumb) but you can get either the bridge bucker OR the neck single coil...Im not sure I would like that, but if it works for you...roll with it!

Yeah, you can't get both pups at the same time ... I don't ever do that, so it's no biggie for me.

I don't know why, but I think that's among the best paint jobs I've ever seen on a guitar! :D

Re: Kamikaze Project PHASE ONE ... *Pics*

huh...i never knew those used a sunk in strat jackplate on the bottom edge...that's pretty cool! this should look good with chrome vs. the black!!

Both of my Lynchs have amazing paint jobs!
The difference in quality you get between ESP and LTD is staggering, if you can even call the LTD "graphic" a paint job.
That's one of the reasons I don't understand while people knock ESP guitars when they've only ever seen or played an LTD.

so...what will the pickups be when all is said and done?
Bridge pickup will be a Bare Knuckle Miracle Man with the cammo "Nailbomb" cover.
Neck pickup will be a green Bare Knuckle Irish Tour single coil. :)

As much as I'm saving for a les paul. You and Zerberus keep on second guess it and long for a floyd.

I think that people who knock Floyds probably have never owned a guitar with an Original Floyd Rose on it. The differences in balance, tuning stability, and overall quality between an OFR and a licensed one are pretty vast.
There are actually two ways a Floyd can be coupled to the guitar's body, as well:
In the 1st way, there are threaded sleeves that are sunk into the guitar's body, and the bridge pivots screw into them, http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges...o/7/Floyd_Rose_Locking_Tremolo_and_Parts.html

In the 2nd way, which is the way it is on all my guitars that have OFR's (I have 3 of em), the pivot screws are sunk directly into the wood. This couples the bridge directly to the guitar body, http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges...o/8/Floyd_Rose_Locking_Tremolo_and_Parts.html

Glad to be of service :D

Looks like it´s turning out quite well, keep it up.

BTW, funny side note: I usually say exactly the same thing you said about ESP/LTD about Jackson USA and Imports ;)

I think we´re definitely on the same coin, but I´m starting to wonder how many sides this sucker really has :friday: :D

BTW, the "Original" wood bolts sound better IMO, but you REALLY have to be careful using them on some woods, Basswood is a prime example. Ibanez had huge problems with Floyds coming right out of the axe, and this is about when the threaded inserts were thought of. Although I´m not sure if the Inserts were Floyd´s idea or one if Ibanez´ first actual contributions to the guitar world.....
