Keisel Pickups

Re: Keisel Pickups

If there's one thing I know about them, Kiesel started out as a pickup manufacturer and they haven't stopped making them yet. So either Kiesel got really lucky, or they them thangs are good enough to start a company off of.

Re: Keisel Pickups

I know there are some hear that really dig them, but I don't have experience with them myself.

Re: Keisel Pickups

I had an M22SD in my main guitar for a while, and tried out a J22B.
I like the look and I love the mounting tabs that allow for tilt adjustment. And the prices are awesome.
But I pulled both from my guitar. The M22 was more articulate than a the Super Distortion it replaced, but with my amp gave me much less sustain. Same with the J22 - good sound but dead sustain. Swapped in a Bill & Becky Lawrence L500XL and love it. All the clarity of the Carvin and all the sustain and grunt of the Super D.
I have not tried any of the new, 12-pole Kiesel pickups (Lithiums) at all. Everyone seems to agree that they are bright.

As usual, it depends on what you play and are wanting to play? I am an old school Carvinite, before the Kiesel transition, have owned 4 and still own 3. With the exception of the M22SD, I have personally found the H, M, and S22 bridge and neck variants to be all really similar as are their specs. The S are the covered candy models and don’t split as well IMO. May well just be because they are covered but they sound more like a quieter humbucker than they do a single coil. They are warm wonderful pups from clean through blues to mellower classic rock. The M22SD should take you from mellow classic rock through hard rock and barely into metal. I do not have any experience with the new lithiums but they tend to be love/hate without much in between. I have some spares of all if you are looking for a bargain set? PM me . . .

never really loved carvin pups in anything ive heard them in

Re: Keisel Pickups

Depends on which pickups. Of course, they announced that they are axing the entire line of 22 pole piece pickups in favor of their "regular" pickups. Part of this was because they were tired of people swapping out pickups. What they didn't realize was that it was due to the sound, and also just the nature of the guitar aftermarket.

Many do not really like the newer "lithium" pickups that they have put out, while many have made great music with the M22 and C22 series pickups for years.
