Re: Kemper Profiling Amp anyone? it is a modeler technological marvel??
I demoed that unit at the last LA Amp Show, and was reluctant at first, but once I sat down with it and watched it work, I realized it was one of the most amazing pieces of equipment I'd ever seen. It's pretty advanced, to be able to analyze everything about an amp tone, then spit it back out.
My big issue with things like this are.....OK, what's the price?
And then, I walk out of the room and plug into a bunch of killer tube amps, and wonder if I really need to model every amp in the world, when I really only want a small handful of tones. It's that way with modelers. You've got over 100 different tones, but only 5% are ones you like to play on.
I guess it's just a case of 'more than I need, but cool anyway.' And expensive. It seems like a great tool for a record producer, and I'm sure a lot of the serious ones will buy the Kemper as a primary library of guitar tones to choose from. If I were in that position, I'd surely own one and make a hobby of profiling nice amps I come across.
In reality, this is something that would be great fun to own. But the fact remains that it's money, and you'd really need a viable use for owning something like this.
