I think you got it backwards, Bob.
You don't have issues with the Kemper, or modeling for that effect.
The "blah" bit in your tonal yuz recipe is the average guitar player getting uninspiring tones out of it.
Someone like Devin Townsend or Steve Vai would make a Kemper sound godly, no doubt about it.
I'd make it sound "meh" at best because I'm not that much of a tone connoisseur, or a great player.

That, right there Diego! For all the buzz, or the criticism of the Device, its not coming from anyone who used it to do a damn thing worth listening to. That Tony Levin comment was the first time someone said anyone did anything cool with it.

Kemper/Fractal stuff while good from performance /tonal perspective is not something that I feel is great to have for beginners to improve their playing skills. Here I would want a device like the GNX4 from digitech from last ten years ago or so. That thing was the best thing by design for a new learner to buy to improve his skills playing in a band or working on creating music. It wasnt the easiest unit out there to get great sounds on but the best practice unit for a guitarist. Presently there are current gen Zoom units that are good & cheap for that stuff & dont sound horrid but still not quite like the all in one gnx series. Wish some company could come out with something like that again.

Everyone is missing the real issue with Kempers / Fractals etc etc - Roadies the world over are now out of work!

I've never played one, but I love the imperfections and nuance I get from tube amps. I do loath lugging them around though..

Are there any examples of guitarists whose tone has improved markedly when they went to Kemper? I will admit not having kept up, but I can really hear when Accept switched to Kempers in the studio (Stalingrad), and their guitar tones have never been as good as they were on the last album before that (Blood of the Nations).

Don't know about these players Kemper tone, but on the artist list there are some big names like Steve Winwood, Pat Methany, Steve Morse, producers Michael Wagener and Andy Sneap beside the brutal tones. https://www.kemper-amps.com/artist-gallery

Seems like all the artists either:
1. Have bad backs
2. Their roadies have bad backs
3. Work for another artist that doesn’t let them have amps on stage
4. Or got paid a little something something on the side to smile and point to a Kemper in a rack

Improved over what? The Kemper is arguably no better than the amplifiers it profiles...but also no worse.
There are tons of pros who now tour with a Kemper in place of their traditional heads and amps. Most of the time, especially for established bands, they're simply looking for the "same" tone in a more convenient package, not improvements.
Besides "improved" is such a subjective word and there's hardly a way to measure it.
