I'm very partial to SD pup's, but I hear the KA's are decent for the $

Re: Kent Armstrong Pickups?

I fell in love with p90's because of a pair of Kent Armstrong Sky pickups (his even cheaper korean OEM line). They came stock in an Ibanez Talman TC620. I replaced the bridge pickup with an actual Kent Armstrong P90 stack style humbucker, to get rid of the hum. It still was pretty cool, but not quite real P90 sound. My love for the P90's led me to buy a Les paul Special double cut, with real Gibson P90's, and I haven't played the Ibanez in 4 or 5 years. The Gibsons seeem to have more of everything I like about the P90 sound. My only complaint is the hum when I'm in the studio.
To sum it up, the Kents seemed pretty good even to those listening to me play, but they didn't quite measure up to the real thing (they were way cheaper). I haven't used any of their other pickups, so I'm no expert.
I hope that helps.

Re: Kent Armstrong Pickups?

I don't know about their P-90s but I have a Kent Armstrong M213K I think it's called. It's their PAF model. I got it as a stock pickup in a cheap import Jackson and immediately took it out of the neck and put a '59 in there since that's what "everyone" does and recommends. I blindly assumed that the SD had to be better cause so many poeple use it and I was wrong.

The KA went right back in.....when I listened again, it was much clearer and sweater than the '59 which has too much bottom end IMO. For such a cheap pickup I thought it was great. I did get rid of their distortion model pickup though....I think it was the M214K or something. I found the JB, Distortion, and Custom, a bit superior in output, and clarity.
