Killed my Gas with a PRS Custom 22

Well, A PRS Custom 22 came in the store today. I ran home and traded my Blonde Strat, Epi Les Paul and Fender Champ 12 for it.
Its a 1994 with a 10 top and Birds. Sounds real good.
I guess now I can really be like Carlos, until I can afford a Santana model in 50 years.

Don't know about the pups yet will probably stay stock for a while, probably get rid of the rotary switch. I'll see if my daughters camera can take a good pic

Re: Killed my Gas with a PRS Custom 22

Great choice. What colour?

Mine is a 94 with non-10 flametop and birds in whale blue. I prefer the customs to the santanas I've played, which seem a little heavy and gainy sounding. I'm running two 59s with a three way, and I prefer that to the standard setup.

If yours is a hardtail, you're in for a treat. That wraparound bridge is comfort itself, and has somehow radically increased my picking accuracy. It's also a godsend when your tele has given you a blood-blister right where your palm mutes and you've got gigs booked...

I've got a Custom 24 on it's way and a SD Custom Custom is waiting to be installed in the bridge (thought I'd try Evans choice).

Rock on Dom!! :headbang:

What's going in the neck?

Re: Killed my Gas with a PRS Custom 22

I liked the fixed wraparound and a wide-fat neck, so the Mccarty was my choice. I like the little thicker body.

but, the PRS trem is about the best I've tried. If it had to be a trem, then I'd have gone for the CU22. I had a Cu24 and it didn't do it for me. never got used to that wide-thin neck.

Re: Killed my Gas with a PRS Custom 22

Congrats! I've been known to play a PRS every now and again. :p

Don't be so quick to write off the rotary switch. Those in-between sounds make a lot of folks happy. As far as being hard to use, I actually now find it easier than a blade switch.

+1. The rotary takes some getting used to, because, unlike a blade, you can't tell at a quick glance where it's set (especially in dark bars), but once your ears and hands get used to it, it's nothing.

Re: Killed my Gas with a PRS Custom 22

Congrats!

Loved my old 10 top (well cept for the pups)....love the rotary switch, trem is the best out there AFAIC. Nice playing, pretty guitar.

And I've been getting GAS for another as well. I've found my good bolt on instrument and now I'd like to round out my collection with a set/thru/glued neck.

Re: Killed my Gas with a PRS Custom 22

I've had a Custom 22 for 7 years now and love it. The rotary is not as fast as the toggle but the single-coil tones make it more than worthwhile. I love the Dragon 2 pickups ; warm and sweet! Congrats on your new axe and play it in good health.
