I saw them at the reading festival a couple of years ago not that long after st anger came out, and it was mostly older stuff, so by now i am guessing seeing as they know fans dislike it they probably only play a couple from that album.

They never play more than 2 or 3 songs from the new album (whichever it may be). I heard Lars talking about how much it sucked when he was a kid, would go see Thin Lizzy, and they'd play "Jailbreak" then the whole new album :laugh2:

I got St. Anger out for the first time in awhile the other day, and I think that if they hadn't rushed it, it could've been pretty kick ass. There's lots of great ideas, they just didn't develop anything. Oh yeah, recording jam sessions, then "crafting" songs out of them with Pro Tools is an asinine way to make an album, too :D

Thanks for clearing that up, because after reading some of these posts, I was growing a bit skeptical myself. I have never seen Metallica live (oh i wish i could), so can anyone who has seen them (post-St. Anger, that is) answer this question thats been bothering me for some time: does their live set mainly consist of St. Anger stuff now, obviously they still play their classics, but is it a lot of their "nu-metal"??

i saw them about a month ago

they played about 2 or 3 st anger songs. out of alot of songs!!!

so not much st anger songs, but even live they didn't sound all that bad. kirk put a solo to the song st. anger which was pretty cool :)

Cool, thanks for answering. That would suck to go see them expecting MOP and RTL and get de-tuned, non-soloing guitars the whole show. Another note about the pickups Kirk's using, just so you know, my friend who told me that didn't say that he was endorsing SD, just playing with them. I think that's already been established, but I just wanted to be clear about that. Thanks.
