Knobs for Push-Pull Pots

I'm probably going to install push-pull pots on my current project guitar to go with some P-rails. This is a new thing for me. I've got no questions on wiring. I'm set on soldering in tight places. My nightmares involve the knobs. Do I need special knobs that are somehow attached differently so they stay on the shaft through numerous pullings? (not too worried about them coming off during pushing...) I know knobs stay on normal pot shafts very well, but these are the crazy things I worry about.:eyecrazy: Thanks in advance.

Re: Knobs for Push-Pull Pots

The pot shafts have a split in the middle of them. The metal is brittle and will snap, but you can use a small screwdriver to spread them very slightly, so that the knob stays on tighter. Likewise you can carefully use a small pliers to bring them ever so slightly closer together to make the knob fit looser. The key is micro adjustments done very delicately. I do this all the time. I have lots of push-pulls and never have them come off. Nothing to worry about.

What 335 said or you could also consider a knob with a set screw

I use push-pulls in my '51 and it is A-OK after 2 or 3 years of pushing and pulling --- it has chrome knurled knobs with plastic (maybe nylon) inserts.

They are very firmly "on there" and it was quite difficult to remove them from the pot shafts when I rewired it.
