Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Anything Creed or Alter bridge will be a rec.
Anything Nickle back at least one guitar is a rec
I think Disturbed was 100% rec.
Bout all the guitar players in most of the late 90's NUmetal stuff used rec's and PRS's much of the time in fact.

White Zombie, Astro-Creep 2000
Very likely Saliva's, Every Six Seconds

I don't know about albums, but Lindsey Buckingham used one live. Maybe still does

My first thought was Mark Tremonti too.

Disturbed is using Randalls but yeah Dan used Mesas.

Hetfield is known to favor Tri Recs. I think live he's using a Kemper (Eric Petersen from Testament said that in a conversation he had with Kemper, they said "Metallica has 80 of them") and there's a video Lars posted of Hetfield tracking for Hardwires using a Kemper too, so maybe they're using them full time.

I don't know if Petrucci's ever used a Recto, but Mesas for sure.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Wasn't ...And Justice For All recorded using Mesa Rectifiers?

Don't mind me, I'm not too familiar with Mesas, I just know Metallica used/uses them and that the Rectifier is one of the most common models. James used a Road King live, that I'm sure of.

Behemoth used Rectifiers exclusively on several albums.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Sublime (Brad Nowell) used triple rectos at least on their last album.

Buried Inside used dual rectos on every on of their 4 albums.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Don't understand the question. Mesa isn't the only (or first) guitar amp to use a rectifier valve.
Or are you specifically enquiring about the Mesa? Even then, you still have the option to NOT use the valve rectifier, so even if a Mesa was used, it's virtually impossible to tell if the valve rectifier was engaged.

While this is a very true and accurate technical point you're making, I think you're WAY overthinking/analyzing the question. I believe the OP is referring to "rectifier amps" in the sense of the general, accepted term of "rectifier" meaning Mesa's single/dual/triple rectifier amp models...

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

On all of the Coheed and Cambria albums Claudio Sanchez is using a Dual Rec. Korn, First 2 Slipknot albums, Creed and every Creed ripoff since, Blink -182's Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, Sum 41... basically every nu-metal/rap rock, hard rock, punk, pop punk album of the late 90s-early 00s had at least one on it.

Also check the Mesa artists page, unfortunately they did change it so you can no longer sort artists by amp model like it used to

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Rancid: Tim uses a Dual Rectifier, Lars uses a 900.
Foo Fighters: Dual Rectifiers, then Road Kings. (Not sure post 2005)
Tool: used pre-Diezel (I think through Aenima)

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Christopher Parkening uses stereo Dual Rectifiers in the studio.

Wait... or was that Selena Gomez?

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Jimi actually had a Dual Rectifier miced up off-stage but needed to have the Marshall stacks for stage presence.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Is that the same Jimi who quit nine-year-old Bryan Adams' band in 1969?

Ha! Yes. Yes I was. :)
It was an attempt a humour; looks like it was a little too obtuse! =p

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

Pretty sure that Devin Townsend used Dual Rectifiers for Strapping Young Lad and his solo band for many years, but I don't know the exact albums.

He's all AxeFX these days though.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

All of Live's albums sound Recto to me, don't know for sure.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

The first Evanescence album sounded Recto. Not sure about the others; might have been a Crate G10XL and a Peavey Rage 108.

Re: Known albums/songs recorded with Rectifier amps

I'm not sure if the Rectifier was released in time for Justice. I've also never heard of James using a Road King. He's used a Triple Rec live off and on since the late 90s, although typically he uses Triaxis preamps blended with his VH4. Before the Diezel, he had one Triaxis setup for IIC+ tones and another for Rectifier tones. I believe Kirk uses a Rectifier with his Randall live. I've also heard that they use an Axe-Fx a fair bit live these days.

Mesa officially released the Dual Rectifier in 1992, but gave a few to artists before the release date. Jerry Cantrell used one for the low-mid & bass portion of his guitar sound on Dirt for example. He also used them to record demos for Alice in Chains but ended up recording the heavier tracks on the album with a 5150 instead. AFAIK Metallica didn't start using Rectos until 1995.

They used Mark IIC+ modded to be used as preamps into Marshall power amps on Justice.
