right on...I keep mine in a tuner mute loop so no buffer...



Sho nuff...the good thing abotu a Boss pedal is that they can often double as a hammer, a weapon, or wheel chaulk when needed!

Hmm.. Possible slight problem on my end here. Are you saying that when I get my Sunface set up on the board, there's gonna be interference from my TU-2 unless I buy a small single loop pedal? {Stares menacingly in direction of TU-2}. Would that be the only issue with non-true bypass pedals, since it occurs before the fuzz in the chain or can I expect my DS-1 and TS9 to give me hell too?

Edit: Just looked up the Pitch Black on musician's friend, nice looking pedal. I can see where people would say it is easier to read. If it turns out I might have issues now with my TU-2 and my Sunface I don't think I'd have a problem swapping. I do have to say that until now I've never had any problems or potential problems with my TU-2.

Dude! I have owned them both and by far the PB owns the PW!

Did you try mine much while you borrowed it or did you get much of a chance?

Sorry to hijack the thread but hopefully Drizz won't mind...

Ok, first remembe that a buffer like the Foxrox buffer retro fit for wah pedals, or the Teese buffer for examples and the buffer bypass like in a Boss or Ibanez pedal are different.

Now, with that out of the way, buffered bypass pedals like Boss and Ibanez WILL cause issues if you run them in front of transister based effects like Rangemaster clones and Fuzz pedals. I do notice a difference when run after but it's not nearly as bad as if they are run first.

If you are using a Boss tuner before your fuzz box the best thing to do is to run the tuner in a tuner mute loop or on the B side of an A/B box or you could simply place it in line after the fuzz. Like I said it does impact the tone to my ears but it's not that big of a deal however having them first (and this goes for the DS-1, TS-9 and really all of those style pedals) you will almost completely ruin the ability to clean up wiht your volume control plus it really messes with the tone and you end up with a harsh fizzy mess of a tone that just plain out doesn't sound good.

Yeah, I used it at the house and a couple of times playing out. I really liked it, but I had heard from some other people, when I was playing out, about how much they liked the PW tuner... and since they're both roughly in the same price-range (the PB being a bit more expensive, cause there's not a lot on the used market yet) I figured I'd check out what others thought

You can't go wrong with the new Korg. It's more accurate than the footswitchable Planet Waves tuner anyhow. I have the Planet Waves tabletop strobe tuner and really like it, but I think the Korg is probably as good if not better due to its easier accessibility and various viewing options.

Ah, I was looking at that when the first details were released and never followed up on it.

I'm not a big fan of the Strobostomp; in fact, I bashed it over at TGP due to its reliability problems (I ended up modding the 2nd one that had intermittent connections with the jacks). Peterson screwed up big time with that thing, but the Turbo Tuner has always received a lot of praise and this new footswitchable one looks like the definitive "end all" tuner.

Why are strobe tuners all the rage now? Are they better than your regular type tuner? I tried my TU2 in strobe mode and found it slightly more complicated. Maybe I'm missing the bigger picture?

i have a boss and like it fine .. christian is right, i have to run it last to have it be as invisible as possible ... if i was starting from scratch i'd do the turbo tuner or the korg ... our lead singer / acoustic strummer has a planet waves .. it is fine too ... easy to read, just seems a little toyish

I use 3 tuners. A Matrix 3000 which I don't think are made anymore. Works fine. I have a Boss TU2 which is a lot easier to see than the matrix, but I really don't have any issues seeing the Matrix. Both of these are on my pedalboards. On my work bench I use my trust Boss TU12. IMHO this is one of the best tuners for doing setup work and such. I never really check intonation while playing a GIG. I usually do a setup on the guitar a day or two before so I know the guitars are right. I just use the peadl tuners to check tuning in between songs.

How accurate are the TU-12's in cents? I have a TU-12 and TU-12H and they both served me well for years, but I don't see any accuracy ratings for them. Seems like the Korg Pitchblack would still be more accurate than the TU-12.

EDIT: ok I found it the TU-12 is +/- 1 cent and the Pitchblack is +/- 1 cent. Basically the same accuracy only one is a floor pedal. I like and own both.

I think I'll look into one of those Turbo Tuners. They look like the ultimate for intonation and accuracy. I downloaded the PC software G-tune which was the predecessor to the Pederson Strobosoft PC tuner and was never able to get it to work at all with a guitar signal going into the mic or AUX IN jack. Tuner was going wild with no signal even... Confused the heck out of me
