Re: Krank, Mesa, or Splawn???
i can vouch for the rectoverb. great combo. my 1x12 at 50 watts runs with my rythm guitarists' JSX at 120 watts, EASILY. the clean channel is great like they said. plus with the two modes on clean and the three on channel two, you've got quite a few selections. plus, @ 50 watts, it gets that saturated sound a lot quicker at lower volumes. a good healthy dose of master volume and your solo channel a hair higher, and you've got a great setup.
i also wanna say, that i was VERY MUCH considering a peavey 6505 before i found the mesa. however a combo was was i kinda wanted, and i just honestly didn't like the 6505 combo. plus the 120 watts was way to much for some of our smaller gigs. anyways, i've never even heard a splawn clip and i've never played a krank, but im dying to try a revolution head. from some of the clips i've heard on the site, i've been impressed. plus like it was said earlier, a lot of people jumped on it rather quickly. between, the mesa and peavey - since i only have experience with the two, i'll say this...both great amps - mesa has the "modern" tone everyone wants in a "modern" sound...its huge sounding, even when i'm playing my acryllic v, and can also tighten up for riffing pretty well. the peavey, seems like it takes more volume to saturate (since it is 120 watts) but its deffinatley a cleaner distortion with a tighter sound to it. i'd love to have a peavey for riffs and the mesa for solos and palm muting...my rythm guitarsists' jsx is pretty sweet though. its a great balance now with my mesas low growl and his more marshall-esque tone. that thing rips! welp....thats my momma..... hope i helped...
