Dont hear Kranks discussed much..Why no love?? Anyone tried or hear the nineteen 80 or 1980 jr?

A lot of people don't like the sound. I won't write it off completely but it's not exactly warm. It's borderline brittle and clanky (klanky, maybe?)

A lot of other people find a good place for them but this is the Internet, therefore: they suck.

I have a krankenstein jr 50w and i really love it

I play it thru an oversized 2x12 cab with a v30 and g12h30

For cleans it sounds very good. Not brilliant, but really good cleans. Awesome head room with really nice break. I have played warm jazz and trebly chimy bright sounds.

With a tube screamer i get a clear crunch. Really nice.

As far as hard rock and metal, its killer. Not brittle as some describe, not solid state as some describe

I will say its not the easiest amp to dial in. Took me more than normal but it was worth it. If u want u can get ice pick SS but i dont play that

What i dont like, is that there is no reverb and its hard to see where the knobs are labelled

I can get a heavy OD sound and raw distortion that blows faces off

One of my favorite thing about this amp is how quiet it is. No more NS

Speaking of Krank, someone in my area has their Rev 1 head listed for $380 after not being able to sell it. I dunno if I want to jump on it, or if it has some hidden issues.

Tell them you will buy it if they give you a 7 day return option in case there is damage. If there isn't anything wrong with it they may not have a problem with it. If you do that, write it down and have both of you sign it. That's a great price.

The Krank amp I tried I did not like the sound of at all. Very harsh to me and it had way too much gain/not enough mids/too much highs and weird bass.

I really expected better because I know Brendon Small used to use Krank amps and I think he has a really good guitar sound.

Funny you say that... the first time I checked the ad after posting here, it was gone. To tell the truth, I'm not that disappointed. There are probably better amps for me than a Krank.
