LA Amp Show 2010. Pics!

Re: LA Amp Show 2010. Pics!

I am down with the Satellite stuff, amazing sounding amps.

Brian Forsythe uses them with both Kix and Rhino Bucket and they just sound killer.

I remember you saying that when I was looking at them. Just then, someone started slamming out rock riffs on the amp, and it sounded a lot more rock than 50's. I really love those simple 2 knob amps, where you just turn it on and there's the sound. But I also like the complex ones that do it all.

The bottom line at a place like The Amp Show is I like them all!

Re: LA Amp Show 2010. Pics!

has cameron even delivered one amp yet?

He was sharing his room with Surreal Amplification, who say they're manufacturing the amps off Cameron's design, then Cameron fine tunes each one before they ship.

And since these are mostly boutique companies, nobody's seeing a bunch of them on the street, and rarely the used market. When looking at most of these amps, I realize you can only own them by ponying up the cash, and ordering direct.

I wish all of them luck. It's a tough market with all the competition. There's a few companies I didn't see this year, but always new ones popping up.

Re: LA Amp Show 2010. Pics!

Besides all the visuals, some of the funnest stuff at an Amp Show is listening to stories.

Imagine this.....Reinhold Bogner, the eccentric with his heavy German accent, scolding Egnater for their copying of the Bogner look in the Tweaker series. "Hello there, Mr. Egnater Man! (looks up and down the amps) "I guess there's enough room in the world!"

hahaha awesome!

Speaking of Egnater. They were focused on two lines, their new two channel Tweakers...$600 and $800, and also their metal amps...the Vengeance and Armageddon.

Thanks for sharing Joe, some great looking kit there for sure. I'm kind of glad I am not able to try it because I'm selling stuff not buying at the minute! Ha ha :friday:

I can't buy anything either, but it's always fun to look.

The only amp related thing I bought all year was my new/used Marshall 1960AHW 4-12 cab. I was happy to see that it's the most preferred cab by most of the amp gurus there. I counted quite a lot of them.

The Scumback room was filled with TONE. The Friedman amps...Scumback cabs....I've never heard better examples of vintage Marshall tone.
Same with the Mercury Magnetics transformers room. They had all the classic amps, upgraded with new trannies and mod kits.

There were quite a few rooms filled with guys who've split hairs for decades on the subject of tone.

What speakers did you decide on for the HW cab you got? I missed an Emimence Wizard last week that I would like to have tried. I'm undecided on wehther to break down my vintage Orange cab so I can have an X pattern of V30's and G12H30's in both the Orange and my Cornford RK cab :scratchch

But then I used to have a purple Hendrix cab that had Greenbacks... it sounded great and I regret selling that one! Decisions......

It looks like a half ass wrapped Christmas present.

LOL!! I was trying to think how to describe it and you nailed it!

Speaking of the Cameron being a hotrodded marshall, Does anyone know if Jose Arredondo is still modding amps??

Any tie in with Marty Friedman??

ya'know what is really sad... Seems like anymore, if you want a good Marshall tone, you dont buy a Marshall..

There have been quite a few people (including a friend of a close friend) who did indeed pony up $3000 or so and pay Cameron in advance for amp, YEARS AGO and haven't received anything but empty promises.

Things like "the amp is shipping soon" or "waiting on transformers, another couple weeks" over and over and over. Worse then vaporware, its pretty much a scam.

Too bad, because they do sound great...
