Laney Amplification

Re: Laney Amplification

laney does a poor job of marketing their products. they should make reissue's of their 70's amps, such as the supergroup, etc.....i wrote to laney telling them they should reissue such amps, i got a polite blow off response :butkick: :nono:

I find this quite true. I've seen Laneys since I was a kid, but only inside small, "on-the-brink-of-bankruptcy" guitar shops... and 3/5 of those shops have now closed down. hmmmm...

I agree, they are however releasing new lionheart range of amps. 20 watt class a amps that have the sweet 70's look.

This sounds a lot like what I was in the market for. I like a certain amount of compression on some of the heavy stuff I do but I wasn't a fan of the Mesa sound. I like components of it and I like some components of a looser Marshall sound. I didn't try Laney but I found what I needed in a Genz Benz el Diablo. May be more difficult to track down than Laney but may be right up your alley.

I was going to suggest the Genz also, I love the compression switch. the G flex cab is incredible also.

Re: Laney Amplification

go for the VH-100R, it can do everything you need it to. Metal isnt an issue, check out the recording on my band's page, it can do it. In those songs I play an ESP EC-1000 with the JB in the bridge. Only pedal on is a noise suppressor, which you might want to invest in if you dont have one.

I love my GH50L. I feel no need for another amp whilst i have this one:) You may want more gain for death metal from this model though, it doesn't quite get into the extreme heavy gain territories

Re: Laney Amplification

Laney's are great amps but every single one I've heard and played had one problem....they were noisy as hell.
