Laney GH50L, opinions?

I am looking into getting my first tube head, nut amp. I really dig the Marshall style voicings and want one that is somewhat high gain and bright/mid range heavy. The Laney GH50L seems like a good first tube head and seems to go for pretty cheap on ebay. They seem basic in design and operation and I think could really fit the bill for me.

How do you all feel towards these amps?

ive played the vh100r and am getting it soon. i say splurge the extra 500 and get lots of versatileness.

its basicall the same amp but with 50 more watts, 2 channels with a total of 4 modes all together, individual channel reverb, and a better effects loop

Re: Laney GH50L, opinions?

I don't need 100watts and I can always use OD pedals and what not to get more versatility.

Re: Laney GH50L, opinions?

I've used both the GH50L and my VH100R and both are great. If you dont need the extra options that the VH has, then go straight for the GH50L, sounds great with 6l6's or EL34's.
