I went to the local shop to do some amp testing and stumbled upon this. Anybody have any experience with this one? Pros and cons? I thought it was pretty nice, but the testing situation wasn't really the ideal one.
Dude tell me about it .... they so dont fit my style man, I've decided though to see how my AOR will work out with KT77s before I make decision on the speakers, I am actually thinking of selling the marshall and getting a G-flex again. Lexicon Lambda/Mics, KT77, cab/speakers, and only then VH100R, life sucks. I think that pushed with something like invader/fullshred/customcustom through a good OD VH100R through a G-Flex 4X12 would totally own everything that's outhere.hehe yea, just make sure you dont use that cab with T75s or your ears will be rejecting it.
The guitar and its pickups will make a huge difference in this amp when plugged straight in, and make sure to always use the low input with humbuckers and the hi with singles. The cab will also, but it is hard to say what cab you should use when playing it in the shop. When I was searching for a good cab when I had the VC50, I had no idea what to get, never went to a shop to play through any cabs, etc. So what gave me the confidence to buy one blind? Splawn. $400 to my door, $110 for the speakers. Will never sell it. Made such a huuuuuge difference in sound for the Laney. I stayed up till 3 am playing it in my apartment the same day I got it, it sounded so good. Neighbors finally gave me a visit by nearly breaking down my door. At the time I had loaded the combo with two eminence Legend V12s which really cut down the sharp highs, and in the Splawn cab they just sounded awesome. Could use some more lows at high volume, but the point is to make sure you dont leave a weakest link in the chain. The VH100R will be picky about everything that touches it. I think I just made myself gas for one again.. lol.
