Laney VH100r

Hi
I just bought an old VH100R it was not looked after but in good working condition
and was selling pretty cheap.
So I figured 4 sounds (channels) a few FX loops ....I'll take it !

Just wondering if anyone here uses one and how do you run it ?
My one has old Sovkek 6L6's

Im going to swap for EL34's to try & tighten up the Bass and hopefully smoothen out the top end a little

Re: Laney VH100r

my buddy has one, with TAD EL34s. it sounds pretty tight from what I can tell.

It gets nice and saturated, but is always pretty smooth sounding through the mids, and the highs.

Very jealous of you right now. That's on my list of amps that I would love to own. You can get some pretty sweet tones from that beast. If it's able to take Kt88, I would recommend you give those a try. Tighter all around. From what I've heard it has a decent clean and a really good distrortion (from Marshallish to beyond).

Loads of info about the amp on this site - go to Laney posse forum.

I used the VC50 for years which is the same amp in a 50w combo format. Sadly missed but found a new happy home with fellow SD forum member Gingrel. They can be very bright so I found it best to keep the presence on 1 and the trebles on about 2 or 3. There's a trick you you can do with the effects loop to use it as an overall master volume. Never tried it myself but you'll find it on the Laney forum with a bit of searching. You can also use one of the loops to add extra gain. Have a look at this.

Great amp, lots of great overdrive sounds and the clean channel is amazing.

Re: Laney VH100r

I debated a long time between the VH100r and the JSX. I eventually sided with the JSX, but I know those cleans on that Laney are stellar.

Hi Richard I got your message.
I actually joined the laney Forum but not getting any input there
