Larrivee Experiences?

I want to get a new acoustic around Christmas and I have been hearing really good stuff about this company. They are also based out of Vancouver. Just wondering if many have tried them. My Sigma Martin isn't cutting it anymore.

my friend has one.

Its pretty bright, but all round a lovely guitar.
Looks really nice and plays very well. Better than most Maton's I have played.

They are a very well made quitar. I have a D10. When I bought it, I tried a Martin D28, Martin EC, a Taylor 800 series, and an Adamas. It was the best sounding one out of the lot. Excellent neck / fretboard. Larivee D10

I've tried a really nice jumbo... It really was a nice sounding and playing guitar....

I think Larrivee gives you more Pearl Inlay for the money.

And that Taylor gives you more tone for the money.

Larrivees are nice, but I like Taylors better.

I played a few Larrivees when I was looking at my Taylor recently. They were actually one of the only other guitars I liked the tone of besides the Taylor. The Larrivees had a slightly more midrangy and warm tone compared to the Taylor, not as much top end sparkle.

The Taylor just had the best overall tonal balance, projection and clarity. It's all personal preference, and Larrivee makes a damn fine guitar.

I think you'd probably be perfectly happy with a Larrivee, if you played it and knew it was a good one. When I was looking around at new acoustics, I considered them, and played several. The necks were good, but didn't feel right to me, so I opted to stay with either Martin or Taylor. Nowadays, my opinion is that Taylors play the best and Martins sound the best. I think I'd be set for life if I had a Taylor 810 neck on my Martin D-28's body. :smack:

That's one fine looking acoustic.

I was curious about Larrivees because they're supposedly the best high end bang for the buck and they are made near me, although I heard they expanded to California as well. I will try some out when I go to see Megadeth in Vancouver next month.
