Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

I'm not much for Bigsby's but that does look really cool. Congrats dude!

No, that's next week. Getting a roller bridge - chrome, with rosewood base. This:

Sorry to go OT but that bridge is really sweet. That thing would look great on the semi-hollow I have. Too bad it needs other work done still.

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Thank you on both counts! Thank you very much! I'm stoked about the roller bridge.

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Wow! That looks amazing, man. How much did the Bigsby set you back?

Anyway, good find! That's a match made in heaven... :smokin: Congratulations! And I do hope that you never part ways with that guitar, like you said. :)

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Chilean, that's the best part! I saw one of these go for $160 just a month ago, and it was a 1961. A brand new Bigsby costs $120, used you can get one for $70-$80-ish. This one, shipped, was $72! I still can't believe it. I don't know what happened!

But thanks a lot, that means a lot to me dude! And I won't part ways, because this is 'my girlfriend's' guitar, as she likes to call it. It means too much to both of us.

By the way, here's a pic my roomate snapped of me last night. Just messing around, soon after I got it installed (just after those other pics were taken). I love it!

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

I'm so glad this whole project has worked out so well. That really is a mojo adding Bigsby there!! Congrats!

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Thank you very much Stevie! Good word there for it - mojo. Nobody's happier about all of this than my girlfriend, which is kinda nice. We've been together for near 4 years now, and she was always impartial to guitars. She's always liked my guitars, but it wasn't until this one that she actually cared (about guitars in general). She actually called me last night, cause she saw some dude playing a "pretty Gretsch" on some TV show! :D I'm learning her good!

Anyways, thanks dude!

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

that is definetly one hell of a guitar,

cool find on that bigsby,

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

That guitar really needs some knobs to look complete, man.

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Like I said, bridge, pickup rings, knobs in that order. I actually have an excel spreadsheet of every part I'm going to buy, what order I'm getting it, the budget price and the actual price. I'm looking at knobs that are $10-$15 each, so it may be a little while!

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Get some cheapies then, you already had a bridge/tailpiece and some rings, you need something to control that puppy. ;)

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

:)

I've got my fingers for now. I can turn the pots. I would love to put Shops knobs on that he (so graciously) sent to me, but I can't friggin find them. I still have the CD he sent, but I can't friggin find those knobs.

Anyways, I'd rather spend full money on good knobs later than spend $15 on knobs in the meantime.

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

don't paint that bigsby man.

it looks great like it is.

remember, scars build character ... both in life and in guitars.

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

That's what I'm leaning towards. I've got time though. On one side, I want to keep it original, and keep its story intact (this has a hell of a story behind it too - the seller told me the story). On the other hand, I want it to age with me, so I can put my own wounds into it.

I'll probably not paint it though.

You get the amp yet Skyy?

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

lol Three people are ideling in my topic right now (still signed online, and still techincally in this room, but they're not active). Guess this puts people to sleep!

Is it that boring!? :)

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Whats the story on the Bigsby. Now you got my attention again.

Re: Latest Green machine update - I got my SUPER SECRET part today! Ready???

Back in 59, the dude's uncle (the dude refers to the seller - the guy I bought the Bigsby from) bought a Guild Hollowbody for like $200. For the next 20 years, the uncle and the dude's father traded it around. The uncle died, and the father gave it to his son, the dude. This dude worked on the guitar, fixing it up. And he was planning on redoing the frets and refinishing it (this was like 15 years ago) so he took the Bigsby off and put it somewhere. But before he could redo the frets and refinish it, he had to sell the guitar (needed money). He sold it for like $1500 actually. But he couldn't find the Bigsby, which sucked. That was like 15 years ago. Fast forward to two weeks ago, he found the Bigsby in an old box in the attic (why it's in such good shape). He's moving, and needs to sell all of his stuff - plus he has arthritis and can't play anymore.

Anyways, I sent him a pic of its new home, and he seemed very happy. So it's a win win! Cool story, huh?
