Re: Lava Box

Thanks for the link.

I see you have one in your sig, what are your impressions?
So far I'm really digging it. Pixelpushers review is pretty accurate as far as I'm concerned, I'm not a real articulate review writer. I think this is one the best distortion pedals I've played and I cant believe its in the price range it is :). Hopefullly this week I'll get to try it with my rig and drummer and see how it does there.

Re: Lava Box

I bought one from B_Bent and this is the review I sent him:
I JUST got done playing on it for quite a while with my Fender Blues Jr. and the results are in...

This thing is brutal! I haven't played Metal/Hardcore music in a long time, and still don't, but this thing can get as heavy as I have any desire to be... I've got my Voodoo labs sparkle drive in front of it (another pedal I love) and if I hit that AND the Lava Box there's the crushing distortion. Without the OD pedal the Lava box is still capable of getting me exactly the rock tones I want for when I'm jamming out of Sabbath/KISS/Neil Young songs, and it gets every bit as heavy as I want it too. Definitely a good investment!

Re: Lava Box

About 4049 chips, most sounds the best when a stage before the chip is pushing the 4049 into overdrive!
Well that is what I have gotten out of fooling around with those things!
No gain coming from it, but pushed like an amp with some clean boosting!
Some good filters and it got everything from melting tones to more subtle ones!
Well I like it...and I want a Lavabox...hehe even though I have a few 4049 versions myself.
As we have been playing around with something close to a 4049 chip here...
But still just getting wiser on the setups here...nothing concrete for production!
