There is a capacity caused by the windings every real coil has a capacity... just a ideal coil has no capacity and no resistance and it is Z = i*w*L
The tone circuit just makes it a complexer LCR circuits with more componenents ....

Nature of the beast. We're having enough trouble with the basics, nevermind throwing in other variables!!

I know... for me that´s a coil the way they´ve always been wound.

But I understand what you mean about the theoretically ideal coil and the necessity to add the other values in.... It just sounded like you were adding the tone controls as well

But if a pickup was an ideal coil, it would be lifeless and dead. It is precisely the capacitance of loose coils, (handwound/scatterwound), that give an Antiquity its "tone" and character.

I once ate a pickup truck. It was yummy. The pickup must taste as good but its just an appetiser. As a cell phone they suck. The buttons are too small for messaging and general trolling.

theoretical knowledge can maybe help you to get a better sound ... but which helps much more is the experience ... that's the reason why I love to hear what the "wise" guys have to say.
