Learning Guitars that aren't Fenders or LPs

Re: Learning Guitars that aren't Fenders or LPs

USA? Only 50 35ths $5k, million Indo/China $500 (the 3 pickup ones).

I'd probably have to sell my house for one of those Lmtd. Ed.

They were Korean made (probably). I doubt they made any USA's. But I really haven't kept up with Dean Guitars in the past 10 years or so.

Well, the idea was current ones, but I keep getting distracted.

Wouldn't let me copy image. Is this a good deal? Seems to me, but I don't know the guitar, and don't care who the guy is

I don't know much about Dean models, but that seems like a decent deal for a Floyd guitar. HSH is a flexible configuration; I used one a lot back when I played in cover bands and needed to span a variety of genres/tones. Not sure what the stock Dean pickups are like, that's a factor. But they could always be upgraded later I guess.

One thing to think about- this is a shred stick so it's likely to have a really thin neck with a relatively flat radius. It wouldn't suit my tastes but it might be a perfect fit for somebody else.

Is it at a GC near you where you can go play it? If you play it and like it, buy it. Sometimes a guitar just speaks to you and even if it's a low end model it's a shame to let one like that get away. I have a number of cheap guitars in my collection.

If you can't play it, you might try finding the same model near you so you can at least get a feel for the neck profile.

SG is a design with odd balance. Many like 'em; on me they hang strangely and feel funny. Also some are more neck-heavy than others. But certainly it's a tried & true rock 'n roll guitar. If you haven't played one with a strap, I'd advise trying that before you buy, just to see how one feels on you.

In general Epiphone MIC build quality tends to be quite decent, though the tone of the stock Epi humbuckers leaves something to be desired. Pro Series models have better pickups; you can usually tell a Pro model because it'll have push-pull tone pots for coil splitting.

I have an Epiphone, a WildKat Royale that's quite decent, even though this design too is a tad top-heavy.
It was only $325 new, with case. (That was seven years ago though.)

EDIT: Well, the Forum uploader is turning the pics sideways again; I replaced the uploaded pic with an Imgur link so it's right side up.

Hahahaha!!!! GC!!!! Closest on MIGHT be 150mi away, or 250. Hahahaha!! I live on the border of Mexico.

Yeah, the HSH & Floyd & slim neck is what interested me (short fingers). I still don't know playing difference betwe flat fret. and not. I do know I'll never be shredding. I'm a blues/rockabilly/old RnR chick. Guess that's someone else's guitar, huh?

That's freaky, ya'll. I can see how guys might find it sexy; I like how you can access upper frets. Cept my arm might get stuck in there. And I'd rip it open going fast. Potentially dangerous: Should come with warning.

I never liked that design.

I never liked that design.

Well, it was a smartass, I guess, suggesting if there ever was a female designed guitar. . . HANG IT AROUND YOUR NECK, BUBBA

I think it might suit chimpanzees well . . . thanks, I'll stick to my CHEAP Pink Cadillac. Jr-nobody is answering me-are those min-buckers or not in Dean '80 35th anniv ed. with 3 pickups?

I'll try looking it up again, but didn't notice first time. Saw 3 = apechit.
