Anyone tried this amp: http://www.leejackson.com/XLSC.htm ???

My buddy AJ has the 50 watt version and wants me to sell it for him.

It strikes me as being a very cool amp. The clean channel is kind of like a blackface Fender but without reverb and the overdrive channel is along the lines of a Jackson modified Marshall.

It's in perfect shape...like brand new. Any idea what we should ask for this amp? I was hoping AJ could get $800 for it but I can't find anyone selling any used Jackson amps like this to compare it to.

BTW, AJ is selling it to get a '68 Fender Deluxe Reverb! (laugh!) He wants something less powerful, and smaller and lighter.

Don't know anything about your buddies amp... sorry I can't help there, but after digging 'round the Lee Jackson website I uhhh... I'd love to get one of these here stompers...

http://www.leejackson.com/Vibrator_pedal.html

The 'Vibrator' with "pulsate" and "stroke" controls...

heh heh heh heh

'Ya think he thought about that one for a second, or was it just dumb luck... the naming?!

See he designed some crate & ampeg amps too... those horrible skreechy heads with the ignition key... ick.

Re: Lee Jackson Amplification

I checked the completed items on ebay, the Ampeg VLs (LJ designed) seem to be going in the $500 - $700 range, all of them were heads though, no combos. I don't know if combos are worth more or less.

I dunno, lew. Everything I've heard out of Lee Jackson has been pretty different to your usual tastes in amps...

It's a blast to play through though. But it's not really to AJ's taste either. That's why he's selling it and getting an old Fender Deluxe Reverb! (laugh!)

He actually likes the way it sounds...he just wants something lighter and more portable.

Lew, I remember in the late 90s the Lee Jackson amps were going for around a grand on eBAY. I bought the half stack version of that amp for $900 and made it back when I sold it a year or so later. I only sold it because we needed money. It was a really great, great amp. Does it have the "more" button? I loved that button. More, lol.

Not many people knew that he had his own line of amps. If you get someone who knows about them, they should snap it up for that eight ball or even more. If I wasn't starting up a business, I'd buy it from you but alas, my amp buying days are over for a long time, lol.

Here's a pic of mine. It doesn't look it in the photo, but it was a really cool tweed tolex.

I'm surprised they're not a lot more popular. AJ's has a great tone and seems very well made. I'm a blues, rock and folk kinda player so it's a little to "modern" for what I do, but I've really enjoyed rocking out through it while checking it out. Very musical tones, IMO. Glad you like yours too!

Don't recall it having a "more" switch...I'll take another look at it.

I had one of the heads for a brief period of time and ended up selling it off to buy my slash jubilee when it came out.

800 for the combo, that seems like a steal to me. D$MN now I want to buy it!!!!! Hmmmm what can I sell to buy it back???

Yeah, it says more or something to that effect. I think it may be a button. I really dug it and I miss it, but the vintage Marshalls I've picked up recently have filled that void. I don't think they marketed that amp at all. I was big into the scene at that time and the rehearsal place we went to had a few Lee Jackson 800s and I still didn't hear of this amp until I saw it on ebay around 98 or 99.
