I have a feeling i may be in the minority, because who would'nt want to add a Mahogany strat to their arsenal .... but I say JM FTW.

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

HSS strat. Then I'd add an A2P neck and a PG bridge to make it an un-frggin-believable HSH Mahogany strat.

Oh yes.

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

the strat, cos changing pickups in the other one (cleanly) is going to be near impossible without a new scratchplate

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

I like Jazzmaster bodies more but I like HSS Strats and the red finish I like more than the blue, so I voted strat.

what?

no

i disagree with this in every way

you can change pickups on the Jazzmaster as easily as on any other guitar with a pickup changer.

i think he means its because of the wide range pickups, which arent the same size as trembuckers or humbuckers.

im just looking for my "other" live guitar, something that has the same vibe as my jaguar.

dont dismiss the jazzmaster because i have a jaguar.

i already have a strat too.

The Ranaldo Jazzmaster reviewed extremely well in Premier Guitar.

Plus, Jazzmasters are sweet. Every receding hairline in the washed-up cover band circuit is playing a HSS strat. Make your own noise!

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

on a different note, i noticed the jazzmaster has no truss rod hole on the headstock.

adjustment is done at the heel?

I say JM, because A) it's going to be collectible, worth 100 million dollars one day, and B) Wide Rangers are awesome, C) it looks better than a Strat, and D) having something different is so cool

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

The Strat will give you more variety with the HSS configuration

Congratulations on your having a HH Strat that you love...no, really, I think it's great that you found your tone machine. It's the one in your profile pic, right? The one with A2Pros in it? Totally awesome.:friday:

I chose the JM based on looks alone and so that's how I voted. Get whatever guitar you want.

Exactly. That Jazzmaster is pretty much the coolest thing in the Fender lineup right now. I wish danglybanger was still around these parts, he must be over the moon about this thing.

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

That Jazzmaster needs a tone control added.
