Ibanez RGIR20FEL-BK

or ephiphone range :)

totally open to any suggestions :) mainly playing ghost stuff d standard etc an hopefully learning some more metal stuff as a break from my mike oldfield stuff on the strat

Re: lefty options metal

Are you able to play any of these, or will you have to buy them unseen/played? To me, it might come down to the neck shape. Ibanez is thinner and flatter than the Epi (you can test this even on a right-handed guitar), So I would probably go with whatever neck shape there is. Left handers really get the short end of the stick on choices.

Re: lefty options metal

going to be unplayed managed to get my hands on a 421 was really quick on the neck but a bit of fret buzz on the g 3rd fret nice though

Re: lefty options metal

For something like Ghost, I would go with the Epiphone. If you find that you don't like the neck then Schecter offers a wide variety of left handed models (I believe that every model that they build comes with a left handed option although not all colors are available). Schecter's necks tend to be thicker than Ibanez but thinner than most Epiphones so you may gel with it better

Re: lefty options metal

Thanks Johnny, just noticed in your sig you have the g-400 an the les paul, do you find much difference in the necks? Ive got quite a bad injury to my lil finger - bends inwards at the furthest joint joys haha :)

Re: lefty options metal

Well my Les Paul is a seven string so that's kind of a bad one to compare with. I'm generally a Gibson guy but I recently have tried a few Ibanez seven strings that I really enjoyed playing as well.

Re: lefty options metal

I have a few Ibanez RGs
one is the RG2EX1
and an Epiphone Florentine

they are right handed

but while both necks are thin and fast
the Ibanez is a bit flatter on back
with a flatter fretboard and taller frets

Ibanez frets are super jumbo, giving the feel of of an almost scalloped board
too tight a grip raises the pitch slightly

the Epi has a 12 inch radius fretboard and lower frets
mine is a pleasure to play

hope this helps

Re: lefty options metal

This is sorta the hit list got to play a g400 today action was super high nice neck though an really cool to play

Not oodles of choice? You're joking.

Re: lefty options metal

Yeah, I assumed he was talking about what was available in shops to try. I don't like ordering a guitar unplayed, either. But I have. Some I've sent back. But it is hard to know the ergonomics of a guitar from a picture.

Re: lefty options metal

well on my opinion the most metal of them on looks and actual guaranteed tone is the Epiphone Tony Iommi, also for ghost the iommi sg is the most tone fitting as it already has the iommi sig pickups which just sound glorious for really heavy stuff, those things are really hot and have incredible clarity
