Lefty question

hey all,

I am about to buy two pairs of neck and bridge humbuckers, (jb model and jazz) and i was wondering since I am a left handed player (lucky me), will the humbuckers be positioned the wrong way since i am left handed? are these humbuckers designed for righties? I just want to be sure before i go on buying something that might not work well for my left handed body.

Humbuckers, and pretty much all pickups, are not designed for either right or left in particular. The only time it may be of some minor concern is when it comes to pickups that have a set stagger to pole pieces (mostly single coils). The JB and Jazz will be fine.

As Nalo said, standard humbuckers will sound the exact same upside down. The one thing to watch out for, however, is that the wire will be coming out of the pickup at the top rather than the bottom, meaning it has to loop back under the body of the pup. Therefore if you're buying a used pickup you need to make sure that it has a good length of lead left on it and it can actually stretch to the control cavity. Unless of course you're comfortable with extending the leads yourself.
