Lefty stagger for antiquity surfers?

Hey everybody,

Does anyone know if the antiquity surfer pickups are available with left-hand stagger? I'm getting ready to do a strat project and I'm pretty sure these are the ones I'd like to put in. Many thanks!

Hi Mark.....You could probably CS order em,but I just reverse mount the staggered single coil pickups in my strats....You may have to remove a slight amount of wood around the bridge position's mounting area where the ears of the pickup sit,but the middle and neck normally mount w/o removing wood...That's how I did it in my blue strat that has Twangbanger/Surfer/Surfer...

Are you doing this on a lefty body or righty?

Re: Lefty stagger for antiquity surfers?

Yeah, I've read some of your previous posts about removing wood from the pickup cavities; I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that. This is for a lefty body. I'm a left-handed player.

Thanks for your help - I guess this gives me some things to consider.

I am also a left handed player. I just did a strat project and just used the righty pickups. First I thought to install them upside down, it fits. But I didn't. I was happy with the sound overall anyway, i couldn't tell any difference.
There isn't much out there for us leftys.

Zhang - I believe the surfers are A5.

sgman - I used righty stagger pups on a tele once, and I found that (to my ear, and to the best of my memory) this resulted in the g string being way too loud compared to other strings. I ditched those and put a SD Broadcaster in the bridge, which I love. So for this project I'd like to keep things as "correct" as possible.

Thanks for all your help, guys.

The Surfers are A5.....If the stagger bothers you, removing a small amount of wood with a dremel tool is no big deal....I wouldn't do this to an original 63 strat though!

Correct as possible on a lefty strat is to go flat poles or get MJ to wind some lefty stagger Surfers if you don't feel like removing a very small amount of wood out of the pickup cavity area...
