Lemme fix yo' stuffs

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

Well Im gonna send him my Takamine for a setup, and will borrow a Taylor while its gone, so he better make the Takamine play / sound as good as the Taylor does!

Making the Tak play like a Taylor will be no problem...Making it sound like one on the other hand...Look I'm just a repairman, I'm not Jesus.

A guy can always dream.....but for real if you can make it play like one, it actually sounds pretty good (I replaced the stock electronics with one of the newer fishmans) and the addition of a well cut bone nut and saddle will make it at least a little better.

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

You got it man, absolutely no problem. I've also got some fossilized mammoth ivory if you're interested in that for a saddle. I got it from pxazl or however you spell his user name. I can't hear a difference between bone and this stuff, but I think it looks better (more of a vintage tone) and I like the stripy layers.

Keep in mind, if this deal is finalized quickly, all proceeds will go to Lew.

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

Sent you a PM about bridge pins. Ignore the fact that it says end pin. We will be doing business soon.

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

do you have the tools and know how for installing inserts into a neck to convert from wood screws to machine screws? like this ? if i am understanding, it is reasonable to think that i could send you just the neck and the inserts ... then when you send it back, i can just reaattach it with the new screws, right? or would you need the whole guitar?

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

T4D,

So long as your confident in your setup abilities, you can ship just the neck and I can install the inserts for you.

hmmm, good point .. i am good on all the setup steps except intonation (no high quality tuner) ... and i've never done nut work ... so let me think on it ... i'll see about sending the whole guitar ... while i'm at it, i might send along some intonatable saddles (this is a tele clone we're talkin about) ... might just have you do the whole 'hot rod' thing in addition to the inserts ... i'll get back to you

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

C'mon fellas. Keep in mind, this isn't for me, this is all for Lew. Let's get this ball rolling so we can get our buddy taken care of.

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

I'm very interested as I live in TX and my guitar sure could use a setup. Also I love the idea of doing something like this for one of your buddies, its really refreshing to see people that really care.

I was wondering what all you include in your hot-rodded setup?

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

Oh, you're in Keller. My wife's folks are in Farmer's Branch, and we head up there probably twice a month. Cool.

Hot Rodded Setup, electric:

Adjust truss rod
Level, recrown, and polish frets
recut new nut
check neck pocket
adjust radius at saddle to match fretboard
set intonation
adjust trem (if needed)
clean all electronics and check for any potential problems
Check tuner bushings
COMPLETELY clean guitar

Acoustic setup:
Pretty much all that stuff, except for bringing guitar back to proper humidity levels
Adjust intonation by means of new saddle
check for forming cracks, loose braces, worn bridge plate, lifting bridge (small repairs done if needed)

That's everything involved in a hot rodded setup, plus more. If there's small little things that might need to be taken care of (cutting a side shim for a tight neck pocket, for example) or something such as that, it'll be done.

Keep in mind fellas, there's only a few more days that this special is good for. Afterwards, prices go back to normal, and only a portion, instead of 100% of the proceeds will go to Lew. This is your chance to really help someone out, while receiving something in return.

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

Oh that's not far from here at all!

I'd like to get that hot-rodded setup. Do you know if you will happen to be up in this area any time soon? if not its not a big deal as I don't think it would cost all that much to send you the guitar (I could be wrong though).

PM me your phone number. I'm actually headed up there Saturday morning. I'll also be meeting up with Proverb-Man and Laz, so what's one more?

Re: Lemme fix yo' stuffs

Yes, and it won't look like the Scallopwned pic, I promise.
