cheaper than doing it yourself? that's a weird assessment? A jazz is 60$. a 59 is 60$ a custom is 60$. thats a whole lot less than having the CS do the jazz/59 Hybrid and buying the custom/59 hybrid yourself. and it's not that hard, too. and faster. you'd have to wait quite a while for the CS.
this is just reminding me I need to order some mags to try swapping in my p-rail hot bridge (the a8 isn't winning me over)
I've been thinking of UOA5's, A5's, or mixing A8 (rail coil) with A5 (p90 coil) that I already have anyone here tried swapping mags on a p-rail is it any different/more difficult than a standard hb?

I did quite a bit of experimenting with the P-Rails Hot when it first came out. I also was not very impressed with it. In fact I hated it. The hot wind coupled with two A8 mags just didn't work. I tried just about everything and ended up with the perfect bridge pup.
Mount it with the Rail next to the bridge to get some real twang and a totally distinct sound from the P-90. Put a UOA5 mag next to the Rail to give it more body, and put a polished A5 next to the P-90 to brighten it up, reduce the really heavy mids, reduce the output, and clean it up. Some have asked about an A3 next to the P-90, and I think that it would also work very well and brighten it up and reduce the output even a little more.
yeah I can tell I like the pickup it's totally an instance of the mag just takin it too far. I definitely want some sort of A5 or UOA5. If I do UOA5 I wonder if I should try a pair in the neck and a pair in the bridge or if I should do UOA5 and A5 in each pickup.
