Les Paul PUP recommendation please

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

I want to have some sex with that guitar.

Not when that chair face was looking though.

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

A2P? I looked for it, along with the antiquities, and didn't see them in the list of humbuckers. Am I missing something here? :)

Thanks again for all the help!!!! I lucked into this guitar. The seller had another buyer and I was selling gear to raise the $$$. I had a banner day last Sunday thanks to craigslist. I got the guitar before the other buyer could get his money on the table. But the burstbuckers are just too bright and brittle.

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

Here are my other LP's. The maroon has the jazz/JB, black has 59/Custom V, white has 57 classics (pic shows stock pups). I'm a blessed man. :)

Okay - seeing the guitars is REALLY not helping keep us focussed on what you need.

What I really think is that the Cherry Sunburst NEEDS, SCREAMS, CRIES for a pair of Pearly Gates.

Oh My Gawd that Wine Red LP is HAWT!!!!!!!!! Needs double cream though.

+1 on all of the above!

Thanks, guys. I feel extremely fortunate to own the guitars. As far as double cream bobbins, SD doesn't off them?

ISTR that you go through the Custom Shop and order double cream with a cover, then remove the cover. Maybe you can order it with an unsoldered cover.

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

If you like the Custom 5 but want more warmth and smoother highs the Custom Custom may be for you. Pair that with an A2 pro in the neck and your in heaven. If you want less output, go for the A2 pro set, or maybe the Pearly in the bridge and A2 pro in the neck. The 59s concern me if your looking for more rounded high end, although in the neck it may not be too bad. But from what your describing, it seems like something with an A2 magnet would fit the bill.

To me the CC had an overly rounded top in an LP. Instead I use a C5 with two 250K's; that leaves more treble than an A2 magnet, so I have a fuller sounding bridge PU but still have some bite & crunch.

see - I hear what you are saying, but I don't think either of those will fly for him. As fat/warm as the CC is - it's got way to much crunch in the middle and loose on the bottom. I'm not feeling it for him.

As for the A2P neck...I'm not feeling the articulate part. If he wants MORE than a 59...A2P isn't gonna be it.

And I agree with the PG bridge also - I really like it. But I think the upper mid spike will disturb him.

Honestly, I still think I'd go with the A2P set...but that's me.

I just don't think this guy is looking for the obvious answer - and I don't think it will satidfy him. C5/59 hybrid maybe????

50th Anniversary Seth Lover Set?
(Alnico 5 Seth Lovers)

you should contact the custom shop to order what you want, and they can make the pickup you want with your specs.

I would try an Alnico 5 Pearly Gates (Pearly Gates +) and Alnico 5 Seth Lover neck.

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

air zone bridge - air norton neck

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

GoDrex, that's some mighty fine playing'. That is very close to the sound I'm looking for. What amp/pedals were you using? Also, did you have to special order the cream bobbins? Thanks again everyone. I very much appreciate all the help and nice comments about the geetars. :)

Re: Les Paul PUP recommendation please

Sorry man that's not me. It's a video that someone else recommended that I watch once when I was trying different pickups. I can say that the Air Norton in the neck position is a very articulate and smooth pickup (I own one).

If you go through the comments, the guy talks about what he's using.
