Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

Gotta love the speed of the '60s slim taper. Both are great though and I wouldn't turn down a '59 reissue. :deal:

I prefer huge necks on my guitars. My vote goes to the 50's neck.

All of my Les Pauls have the 60's neck on them since they're Classics. However my Premium Plus's neck is somewhere in between the two. I have the 50's necks on my es-135 and my SG's. It really doesn't matter that much to me though. I just pick em up and play.

Has to be the 50s neck on a Les Paul. If you want a slim-taper, play a f***ing SG.

I agree with Jolly, ive played both 50 and 60 in the sotre and i liek em both i can play either so i dont real care.

Either works for me because I love Les Pauls, but I prefer a fat, tapered neck. My LP Custom ('87) has the perfect neck. I think the fatter necks add sustain IMO.

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

I like both but I think I prefer the really fat neck that the historics have. When I switch to the thinner neck on the 335 it takes some adjustment.

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

I like the neck on my '59 Les Paul Historic...but have played some with to much shoulder and almost a D shape to the back of the neck. I don't like them when they have to much shoulder. But rounded and shaped right, I have always prefered the wider/deeper 50's style neck on Gibsons and found the 60's style neck to be to thin and not sound as good. Lew

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

I *love* the fatter 50s neck, and thats one of the first things I check for on a LP, but if I had a fat-necked standard and custom, then it'd be cool to have a standard or classic with a 60s neck.

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

i like the 50's neck better, but i can only play them sitting down

Boy, just when I thought this thread was history! :smack:

Looks like the 50's winning...anyone else?

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

I've always wondered... did the necks just change instantaneously? Fat necks in '59, and slim necks in '60?

Re: Les Paul Users...50's/60's neck?

50's neck on a lester. Both mine ( studio and Custom+) have the 50's neck

My all time fav, PRS Wide Fat on my CU22
