Less expensive gear doesn't always save you money

Re: Less expensive gear doesn't always save you money

well for me it didnt save me money.

i bought a MArshall JTM60 years ago and i have had nothing but problems with it.
i wanted then to get a better quality amp but i went ahead and got the Marshall. it wasnt that cheap actually. it cost about 1000 bucks then and was quite a bit of money.
i should have saved and bought a better older marshall out there or a boutique 'better' Marshall clone.
throught the years servicing that amp has sucked me of over another 1000 easily and its not just on tubes. this thing has broken down so many times.

its hard to say though cause how can you spend more on equipment when your ear isnt fine tuned anyway.
you know, when you first start playing you cant hear all the little details. so a crappy 400$ guitar might not have such a huge sonic difference in your head when you first hear it.

thats the way it is with the first guitar i ever got. a Roadstar 2 ibanez. its an ok guitar i guess but compared to my USACG that i made and to other high end guitars it just sucks.
this may sound silly ( and egotistic but its not) but i think my ears are so good now that it is a curse in a way. I CANT PLAY anything crappy sounding.

it just doesnt motivate me to play anymore. And i am a bedroom player.

I cant sell this guitar cause it is my first but i cant really play it anymore cause it doesnt do it for me.

I partially agree with the above in a nutshell. i agree with what one guy wrote about "it is better to spend 10 bucks wisely then 7 bucks foolishly"

In Finland, we have a proverb that goes "A poor man cannot afford cheap". I've always thought that it's 100% true.

About foreign labor vs. domestic labor, I won't make the difference. I guess I'm more of a cosmopolitan than a patriot. Though, my next guitar could well be finnish. But only because of the quality/price ratio.

:laugh2: when I first read that I read it as Pro-reverb! lol

But the thing is that it has patriotism has nothing to do with trying to maintain your way of life. We as westerners are just living a double standard. We demand the most pay and benefits, but we want to buy at rock bottom prices.
