Yes, yes, yes...you're on fire dude...less gain is more, indeed. Harder to play, but so rewarding. The emotion in your playing just seems to come through so much clearer. Having to work a bit harder for the tone makes the results more heartfelt, it's not hiding behind a mass of gain. Whatever you're experimenting with, it's working for you. More!

Cheers......................wahwah

Thank you guys!

The original tune is by the legendary Shawn Lane

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Me_J2FaVtU

I always get goosebumps when I hear/play it...I did it for the memphis monster forum too..the guys there are real Shawn experts and you couldn't find a decent backing for this excellent tune and so I decided to record it on my keyboard, doesn't perfect but I tried to keep his legacy alive with this backing, my small contribution.

The amp was only 1/4 way up, I think I stay in the crunch channel with a tad more gain on top..can't wait to play the amp loud. :)

Yeah it's the Engl Screamer with my Ibanez RG (Air Norton/Breed)..I have yet to find some settings for my Yamaha SA2200..semi acoustics sound kinda "hard" in my ears with an overdrive tone.

this sounds really good. i liked it a good bit.

Re: Less gain is more (noodlin' over the "Get You Back" backing)

the gain on my powerball's lead channel's is LOWER than the gain on my clean channel.

Depending on what im playing, i use the crunch channel with a GE-7, frown curve - boosted volume, it gives me a lovely, chimey crunch.

For extreme stuff though, the cut I get from that sounds to brown, it needs to be grinding.

I hit really hard, so my attack comes from that rather than lots of gain, also my channel volume is way up... it sounds much better - open and pushed.
