Lets see some #1's!

Re: Lets see some #1's!

And it does rock. It sounds great no matter what I put in there. Just good wood and parts all around. It's running dual Screamin' Demons now. Such a good setup.

Would it even sounds good with emg select pickups?

Haha. You know, I wouldn't say it would suck. I had a cheap Asian humbucker on the bridge that came stock in the neck of a Focus 2000 and it still sounded good. Not as good as with Duncan's, but it didn't suck.

I really need to take pictures of the neck. Fantastic Rosewood figuring.

Re: Lets see some #1's!

The Warmoth I have is a finer instrument but the one that I tend to play most of the time these days is this old Hohner L75:

It has an incredibly good neck profile.

Re: Lets see some #1's!

My number one bass. It's a '60's reissue Japanese body with a Fender U.S.A. replacement parts neck. Those necks were '62-reissue AVRI necks that they sold aftermarket for a few years back around 2000 or so, but they just say "Fender" on the headstock decal, no model name or patent numbers. The pickup is a Duncan of some sort that was there when I got the bass. It might be a 1/4 Lb. I remember thinking the magnets were kind of big the last time I had the cover off. The pickguard was originally tortoise, but I replaced it with white around 2004 or so. The tortoise guard was eventually sold to a SDUGF member, and now lives on his bass (looking pretty fine too).

That's my #1 (and only) amp too, a Rocket Bass B100R. I've had it since new ('96 or '97), and – knock on wood – have never run in to any problems or needed anything else since. It's bone stock, and it has not required one bit of service or repair through about 200 gigs and countless practices.

My number one guitar's pix are on one of my external hard drives, so maybe I'll put them up later.

Re: Lets see some #1's!

Actually, the guitar pix were still on my computer. Here it is. It's a Dec. 2002 custom spec'd Fender Custom Shop Esquire N.O.S. with a birdseye neck. I got it barely used back in 2003. A customer had special ordered it and then returned it to the shop, from which I used to buy stuff all the time. I fell in love with it, and the owner cut me a great deal; I got it for dealer cost plus tax and shipping. I've converted it from whiteguard to blackguard, and changed a couple of screws and the switch tip out for more "vintage correct" ones. Other than that, it's stock. It weighs 6.5 lbs. and sounds better than most old '50's and '60's Teles/Esquires I've played. It has a 9.5" radius and old-style skinny Fender frets. While I had it all these years, I only started using it heavily in 2011, when I joined a band on guitar (instead of my usual bass).

Re: Lets see some #1's!

Currently going back and forth between these two Gibson Custom Shops......Cornell ES-335 #4, and 08 SG Diablo. Other than that, I rotate between my Fender Strats.
