Yeah, and I have to plug them any chance I can get http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/ishibashi-shops/item/14-312144300/ Color matched head stock, binding (possibly just a painted stripe on the solid color Aerodynes, but looks pretty good), curved top, and fine Japanese craftsmanship that especially shows when you pop the pick guard off, no unnecessary holes or fissures in the body, and buttery smooth necks. I hope people buy them so Fender Japan will keep on producing them.

it's a beauty but I'm not a fan of basswood, much prefer the alder. Tho I really like that black border, maybe I could add that to mine? And the matching headstock is a nice touch.
So the aerodyne is not a legit fender product? Someone buys a strat and mods it?

It's legit Fender, but it's produced by Fender Japan and not sold in the US for bizarre business reasons, which makes them all the more appealing in my eyes. We get stuck with MIM, which are inferior to MIJ on numerous levels.
The guitar came with the black border / binding, the only mod I've done is to swap out the pick guard and everything attached to it. I suspect the binding is painted on because I have both the black and white Aerodynes, and I swear they both use the same buckets of black and white paint for the body and one for the stripe, each reverse of the other. Also the line shows ever so tiny dithering of paint on paint, bit it's very hard to see, even up close. I think painting the stripe instead of using true binding is part of why it costs under $700 where as the previous generation of Aerodynes with true binding were +$700.

That's a ongoing project strat build I've been working on. I really dig the anodized gold on the sunburst. The other is my number 1 CIJ Antigua burst strat. I've sometimes thought of using a black pick guard on it.
