Lets talk about strings shall we?

Re: Lets talk about strings shall we?

Yeah, I'd qualify that a little, I think they're better for guitars you don't expect to play every day, because they have a thin film over them, which if you play often, will probably get torn up and rubbed off. But if you don't play any one guitar as often, the coating keeps the rust at bay a lot longer.

Ahhh...that makes sense. I play/practice just about every day–especially when I was using the Elixirs. Now I've switched over to Ernie Ball and am very happy with them.

I settled on D'Addario .011-.049 nickel wound strings about 15 years ago. Use 'em on all my electrics, no matter whether they're Gibson or Fender scale length. I tune in E standard, Eb standard or D standard.

Almost anything will do for a while, but Pyramids are my favourites, especially the nickel classics. I use 11-50 for about everything.

Re: Lets talk about strings shall we?

D'Addario 11's, Balanced Tension and normal, made my guitar flat out roar and come to life acoustically!

Re: Lets talk about strings shall we?

Rotosound on my electric guitars, Ernie Ball...if I HAVE to.

Rotosound on my electric basses.

D'Addario phosphor bronze on my acoustics.
