Lets talk Boogie

Re: Lets talk Boogie

Also consider a Mark IV. I sold my Recto and I`m now going for the Mark IV which btw is very capable in the metal dept.

Re: Lets talk Boogie

My cousin bought a new Triple rec from the GC in dallas new for $1400. If you cant talk them down then go elsewhere, especially ebay. That cab price is rediculous too.. but since it is huge, you dont have to worry about shipping and all that so its not that bad of a deal. Have fun, i know i would!

Re: Lets talk Boogie

Mesa will not let their dealers move on the price. Plain and simple. If they're caught doing it they lose their dealership. That said, three channels rock. Mesa cabs are awesome whether standard or traditional. Good luck, enjoy, make ears bleed.

Re: Lets talk Boogie

GUYS! I BOUGHT IT!!!

My chest cavity is closing in on me as we speak right now! Its loud, the tone is amazing! And Yes I have to figure out all these dials, I dug into the solo channel not checking where the solo dial was at, yea um ouch! :) But dude I frickin love it! I got him to order me a 2x12 cab instead of a 4x12, same v30's but small cab. That way I'm not overduing it.

Right now I'm pushing it through a 4 ohms fender 4x12 hes gonna let me barrow it till my cab comes in, (everything is paid for). But yet I'm in credit card debt, but no worries I have alot of cash set back for this venture! And bros I'm in heaven finally I have a tube amp that can push my tones even FURTHER!

I will heed to everyones advice as I venture deeper into Mesa Tone! I love it. This head is so heavy too!!! I had to drop the convertable top on my car to get the cab in! The guy thought it was hilarious so did I, my parents were like WHOA! And I'm like WEEEE.

Of course they are doing the mom and dad thing, "could of bought a car" but screw that man! I bought a guitar for 1,000 before I bought my first car!

I love this tone! I love it! No JOKE! I had to have it!!!!!

Re: Lets talk Boogie

let us know how that 2x12 sounds when you get it...i've never played a mesa 2x12 but i've always been curious!

Re: Lets talk Boogie

YES! Please let us know how the 2x12 is, I'm also considering it.

I have to disagree... killer thrash tone, but it sounds 'small' compared to other amps, as in, it doesn't fill out as much of the sonic spectrum.

Re: Lets talk Boogie

No prob guys, I had to be realistic ya know I don't need a 4x12 cab in my room, and if I do start gigging which is exactly what I'm aiming for. I'll plug through a PA anyway, but surely if the time came where I need the 4 12's I'll go for it.

2x12 does sound fun, same speakers and boxed in, I imagine some major bottom end it would seem.

But let me go into detail with my amp, in all seriousness I was so happy I could barely play clean and clear I was too 'fidgety' I guess. But the tones I'm getting out of this are amazing!

For example the pressence tone has such an affect, that merely blowing air on the dial to make it move would seem like a subtle change. The gain is so sharp, exactly what I wanted! Its like a pierce, I need to sit down and really get a feel for this head. And with what I've experienced so far thats not going to be a problem :)

It brings to life so much tone that I've been dying for, and makes my Strat and Jackson feel right at home. Also never to disappoint me, the Head also put me into shock with some warm cleans. Very impressive, I didn't see it coming! When I got done finger picking through some licks I was just amazed by how much better it sounded as it was to my playing. It makes me want to play faster.

Outstanding Amp, Mesa/boogie is definately worth all the cash I just sloshed to it. Unfortunately its midnight here and I can't plug in, but I just love it. The appearance and everything!

Just got done filling out my survey, I'll have that mailed tomorrow. Such an impressive amp. I should be getting my 2x12 in like 3 weeks. And as far as the price, who cares, and o yea your right I can't get the price down. But I looked at like this: I'm the only person to own this amp so my resale price will be really good, if I ever want to get rid of it. And since I'm wanting it anyway, hell buy it new.

Money is money, its meant to be spent.....Ramen noodles anyone?

Re: Lets talk Boogie

yea but I still have regret that I bought my straight front mesa traditional 4x12 for $970 (including tax) when I could have bought it off ebay and picked it up for only 60 dollars gas money.. and when I sell it it won't matter if it's mint or only one or two years old.. it'll be selling for the same price.. around 600 dollars (if even)

I have to disagree as well. Mark IV's can hang with almost any amp for metal.

I never said they didn't sound great, because they do. They just don't cover as much of a sonic spectrum, like a Rectifier or 5150 would do.

For isntance, listen to Lamb of God's Ashes of the Awake (MKIV) compared to Kreator's Enemy of God (5150). Both were double tracked through the same cabinet (Boogie traditional), and there's a huge difference in 'bigness.'

In all due respect, comparing 2 different artists/albums is not a fair assesment of actual tone. There's alot of studio magic involved as well. You need to hear the amps in the room through the same cab to do that.

Re: Lets talk Boogie

I have owned Mark IV combos for years, and still own one. Recently I played through a Stlilleto - and IMO that amp kicks all over their recitifier series - for what you wnat to do that is the amp to have.

Re: Lets talk Boogie

I think I know where Jeff's coming from. That's why I always loved playing the Recto by myself or while the second guitarist and my the bassist in my band weren't able to make a practice...the Recto fills out a wide range of the "sonic spectrum" as Jeff puts it. It's quite wonderful.

...but when you're in a band situation, one may vouch for the Mark IV, or may prefer the Recto. But the BIGNESS factor plays a smaller role in that case and it's more about the TONE.

Re: Lets talk Boogie

Tones are rocking out of this head, unfortunately I can't blast it cause once again i've been at work all day and I don't need to have the cops knocking on my door step.

The pushed clean channel is nice. I do want to start a band man. And how about fate, a guy at work just started named Adam who plays guitar, had a band, and I meet him.....were gonna play sometime. So I'm kind of hoping for a click somewhat.

But this head can pump man, I really want my 2x12, like really bad, this fender 4x12 ah its nice, but I want what I bought ya know.

It would seem the flexibility of this amp is there, I see alot of midrange cuts all around. I was also following the manual I have with it, learning things about it.

I want to be sure to use this head to its fullest potential.
